What I want to do:

Hide the GNOME Panel while Overview/App Grid is open, but show it on the desktop. So when I go to my activities overview or look at my apps, the panel is not there. But when I am looking at the desktop, it is there, and I can interact with it and everything.

What I've Tried:

I've tried variations of Hide Top Bar extensions without any luck.

Theoretically

You should be able to make an extension to do this, right? I have very very little knowledge of how to make an extension for GNOME, so any help would be appreciated.

I am in love with tweaking my shell, and I have a few extensions installed. One of which is Hide Top Bar.
When enabled, my Desktop Icons (Desktop Icons: NEO/NG) shift up. This makes the top bar overlap the icons when the panel is shown, and I would like to fix this by shifting them back down.

The code that modifies the desktop's margins is in desktopIconsIntegration.js. I don't know what I would change to make the icons go back to their normal position, which is why I'm asking here.

I want this fixed, but don't know how to edit the desktopIconsIntegration.js file in the Hide Top Bar extension (linked above). GNOME 40, Ubuntu 21.10.

I am the author of the extension Mock Universal Menu, and am working on the next update. The problem is, I want to insert my text to the rightmost index of the left box. I want to do this because as of now, after coming out from suspend, my extension goes to the left of the app menu (ex, Firefox, or Extensions), and after the activities button. So, my question is: Would it be possible to stop this behavior, and if not, how do I align it to the right of the left box.

I am on Ubuntu 21.04 with GNOME 40.4 installed.

Zack here. I have installed a gnome extension: Panel Date Format. I put in my settings and all that, and next thing I know, my clock no longer highlights when I hover over it. It's not anything with my theme, because when I disable the extension, it highlights again. Is there a way to mod the extension to make it highlight on hover again? GNOME version is 40.4. Thanks

So I want to reset my Ubuntu 20.04 installation without reinstalling it, so I am going to use Resetter. However, Resetter can't find the manifest file for the system. I don't have good experience with VirtualBox, so I can't make a manifest for resetter. Would it be a big issue if I used the 18.04 manifest file, and then updated?

I would like to know how to add text after the activities button on the top bar. I already know how to change the Activities button text with a shell extension, but I want to add text after it, that does nothing. With the Unite shell extension, you can add text when the desktop is focused, and that helps a little, but I would like that to be shown all the time, and not just on the desktop. I am running Ubuntu 20.04 with GNOME 3.36.2.

fellow Ubuntu Enthusiasts! I recently installed LightDM via sudo apt install lightdm and then installed lightdm settings tool via sudo apt-get install lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings
And now, LightDM looks all weird. It doesn't have the look that it used to with a fresh lightDM install. Can somebody please help me to restore all the settings?

I need to know how to enable and disable Large Text accessibility feature through the Ubuntu 20.04 Terminal.

My desktop is constantly in large text mode (even though the accessibility settings don't say so) due to some Nvidia driver issues. The workaround that I've found, is to enable and disable Large Text Mode.

I'm making a bash script to ping a certain web address. The problem is, when I say:
ping https://www.dictionary.com/browse/word then ping says
ping: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/word: Name or service not known
Can somebody please help me with this? What is a program that I can use to ping an https server.
I have to have the slashes there because I want to ping that certain page.

So, I made this custom trash can. I want to be able to drag-and-drop files to put them in the trash folder. This is my desktop file:

Installing fprint and fingerprint-gui do not enable the fingerprint scanner on a Lenovo ThinkPad p50 to work with Ubuntu. If there is another linux-based OS that supports this, I would gladly switch to that, but I haven't found any.

This script opens a zenity window, and walks you through generating a notification. I want to make it exit when you press cancel. How do I do that?

I Want a menubar in GNOME 3.20, and have found Gnome Global Application Menu (hud for GNOME). The problem with this extension is, the highlighting stays there, and it unselects the window that you were on.

Can somebody please tell me how to turn off the hover when my mouse isn't on it, and keep the window selected?

I want to make a trash icon for my dock. Dash to Dock does not have a trash icon that I can add, so I was going to make one. I want the Trash full icon when something gets added to the trash, and I want the Trash Empty icon for when there is nothing in the trash. Can somebody please tell me how to do this?
