On Kubuntu 20.04: When I enter my login password after a reboot - the KDE wallet gets opened during login and the wifi password (which is stored in the wallet) can be read by the wifi configuration. So all works as expected.

When I would like to use autologin and enable it, I get logged in automatically, but after the reboot the KDE wallet window appears and ask me to enter the user password. It is because KDE password wallet is still locked and wifi tries to read the password there. The only solution is to put the wifi password unencrypted for all computer users in the network settings. But this is a very bad solution to have an uncrypted password in the system. Why is it not possible to have both autologin and encrypted wifi password? I just can believe that is not possible/working in Kubuntu 20.04. Is there no way to achieve it?

Just installed ubuntu 19.04 minimal with apt install plasma-desktop sddm dolphin konsole kdeconnect --no-install-recommends and apt install kwin kleopatra kwalletmanager libpam-kwallet5. All good. Installed Brave Browser as described here.

Currently I need to type two passwords, one at logging in, one to unlock wallet (almost immediately after login). Searching internet I found that it's possible to unlock both at a time from single password entry.

Tried installing folllowing packages:

kwallet-pam,pam-kwallet5: Unable to locate package kwallet-pam,pam-kwallet5

pam-kwallet: Package pam-kwallet is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source. Package 'pam-kwallet' has no installation candidate

Not solved. Any help? pam-kwallet referred to which package?

Just installed Ubuntu 19.04 minimal with

apt install plasma-desktop sddm kwin --no-install-recommends

All good. Installed Brave Browser as described here.

Now opening brave, it opened "KDE wallet Service" dialog box, with default selection "Use GPG encryption...". Searching internet I used

sudo apt install kgpg kwalletmanager kwalletcli

Then I Opened kgpg and created key along with a wallet "firstKWallet" in kwalletmanager.

Now opening brave, it shows "kwalletd GPG backend - KDE Wallet Service" dialog box with message:

Error when attempting to decrypt the wallet firstKWallet using GPG. If you're using a SmartCard, please ensure it's inserted then try again. Error: Inappropriate ioctl for device.

Following this guide edited ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf and created ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf. Then system restart.

Now opening brave, it shows "kwalletd GPG backend - KDE Wallet Service" dialog box with message:

Error when attempting to decrypt the wallet firstKWallet using GPG. If you're using a SmartCard, please ensure it's inserted then try again. GPG error was No data.

What I am missing? How to make it work? Honestly, I've no idea what I'm doing (though, I know what GPG is).

In "kGpg-Key Management" Right clicking the key and selecting refresh key from keyserver gives

[GNUPG:] FAILURE refresh-keys

In KDE wallet manager, "The wallet is currently closed" is showing with a "Open..." button. upon clicking it goes back to "... GPG error was No data" dialog box

I recently changes my user password using the command passwd, and then after I restarted the system and logged in using my newly set password, I started getting the annoying popups asking me to insert my KDE Wallet Service password, also my Wifi password was gone, and this popup showed every time I started Google Chrome, I tried both my old and current password, however non would seem to work, the only way I was able to get rid of the annoying popups in by reverting to my old password!

How can I solve this issue and change my user login password?

I have Kubuntu 17.10 64-bit.

I migrated from KDE to Unity desktop. So all my passwords I used with Chromium and Iron-browsers are stucked in Kwallet.

How to access passwords from Kwallet inside Unity? Maybe there is way that browsers could use still Kwallet? Or some way for migration?

I use now Ubuntu 12.04, Kwallet was in Kubuntu 11.10.

Edit. Results so far:

I tried to use Kwallet under Unity2d, but if Chrome/Iron does not ask directly from Kwallet (and it does not, it uses Seahorse under Unity2d), the data saved to Kwallet from Chrome/Iron is useless.

I exported from Kwallet as XML and tried to load it to KeyPassX, but result is same, because Chrome/Iron data is unreachable. When i look data through the Kwallet, there is said: "This is binary entry. It cannot be edited as its format is unknown and application specific".

Only way i see, is to install KDE somewhere and try export data from Chrome/Iron directly, but i still hope to have better solution.
