Folks, Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the assumption that the reason rsync's first run is slower than subsequent, is because it builds up a database of the file structure on the sender.
However, Im not seeing this in the docs: http://rsync.samba.org/how-rsync-works.html
Does rsync in fact build a database of local files? Can we specify where it should be stored?
Thanks!
No, rsync does not store a database of files; it rebuilds its file list from scratch for each run.
