I am on CentOS 6.9 with a LAMP stack, trying to set SELinux=enforcing in /etc/selinux/config
However after **reboot ** and checking sestatus
I still get SELinux status:disabled
Then I tried running setenforce Permissive
which returns setenforce: SELinux is disabled
Also setsebool httpd_can_sendmail 1
which returns the same msg
I verified the link between ln -s /etc/selinux/config /etc/sysconfig/selinux
contents of config file:
# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
# enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
# permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
# disabled - SELinux is fully disabled.
SELINUX=enforcing
# SELINUXTYPE= type of policy in use. Possible values are:
# targeted - Only targeted network daemons are protected.
# strict - Full SELinux protection.
SELINUXTYPE=targeted
Why are commands not working? How can I enable SELinux?
edit, the reason why I am trying to enable SELinux is because of this post: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8341678/php-mail-function-not-working-on-centos-server
outout from cat /proc/cmdline
