In the D-Link router configuration, I found two notions, NAT Forwarding that pairs A Local IP Address with A Remote IP Address:

And at the same time there is Port Forwarding that pairs A WAN Interface/IP and WAN Port with A LAN Port and LAN IP:

I don't understand the difference between them and which one of them I have to use to forward requests from Internet/public IP to local/LAN IP.

What is the difference and which one do I need?

I am looking for some help on configuring 2 D-LINK switches (DGS 1510-52X on one side and DGS 1210-52 on the other) for my network needs.

WAN LINKS on router are actually 2:

• First is WAN with NAT translation to company LAN network, having VLAN ID 1, Un-Tagged on port LAN1 on router going to Port 1 on SWITCH A
• Second is IPSec VPN link with NAT translation, which should not interfere with LAN and is used on some trusted devices and equipment. This one has VLAN ID 2 on router port 2, Un-Tagged and goes to Port 48 of SWITCH A

Both switches should be configured pretty much the same, using only Level 2 configuration and VLAN 802.1Q, having:

• Ports 1 to 39 for LAN computers
• Ports 40 to 48 for VPN devices

Only SWITCH A is connected to router, while SWITCH B is connected to SWITCH A using SPF connected Fiber optics cable from SW A port 52 to SW B port 52.

Now, the goal is to have Un-Tagged devices on both switches, using LAN on ports 1-39 and VPN on ports 40-48.

Could somebody help me configure those ports, as I have no idea how to properly Tag/Untag/Group ports on both switches. Thank you!

After much messing around with what appeared to be 4 faulty routers in a row I realized that I can reproduce causing my DLINK DIR-655 router to freeze up and require a hard reboot (to factory setttings) by simply plugging in my Lenovo W520's ethernet card.

I was also able to reproduce this on my old Asus RT-N16. I went through 4 routers (3 Asus and 1 DLink) and can reproduce this.

Does this sound like a possible?

I have a D-Link DES-3550 switch, Firmware: Build 5.00-B28. I want to change admin password, but somehow I am unable to do this:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a D-Link DGL-4500 and I've been using that for a long time as my DHCP server. I now have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine plugged into it and I have set it up as a DHCP server.

I don't have 2 NICs on my server machine, so I still wanted to use my router as the main hub where all of my machines connect. The only thing I don't want the router to be anymore is the DHCP server, but I still enjoy it as a firewall.

Is there a way I can use plain old port forwarding or something similar in my router to forward DHCP requests from computers connected to it to my Windows server? My router doesn't have a "DHCP Relay" feature that I can see, I only have the ability to turn the DHCP server on my router on or off.

Help is greatly appreciated!
