A Windows Serve 2003 machine logged an error in Event Viewer with the COM+ Event System, saying it could not marshal the subscriber for a particular subscription and then gave the SID/GUID, which is:

{DF540FFA-D787-4FDF-82E4-4BD5C1302F23}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.  The HRESULT was 800706BB.

I don't quite understand the error.

I'm trying to look up the GUID to find the application.

I tried opening up the registry and searching for it but it didn't find anything. A google research revealed I need to load the cluster database in the registry and look up the GUID. The problem is I cannot find the CLUSDB file. It is not in %SystemRoot%\Cluster.

What do I need to do to identify the application in question?

I asked a question over on StackOverflow and was directed to ask a related one here to see if I could get any additional input. Basically, I am looking to have my application aware of what domain it's running under, if any at all. (I want to expose certain debugging facilities only in house, and due to our deployment model it isn't possible to have a different build.) Since I am over paranoid, I didn't want to just rely on the domain name to ensure we are in house. As such I noted the DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_INFO returned from DsGetDcName has a GUID associated with it, however I can find little if any information on it. I am assuming this GUID is generated at the time the first DC in a domain is created, and that it would live on for the life of the domain. Does anyone else have any inner knowledge and would be kind enough to confirm or deny my assumptions?

Is there a way to resolve NIC service IDs (the GUID assigned to each hardware NIC) from the command line?

I am analyzing ADFS logs, which reference the SharePoint webs visited (via the wcontext parameter) but do so via their GUID.

How do I translate a SharePoint site/web GUID into a URL?

We have an MSSQL database in which all the primary keys are GUIDs (uniqueidentifiers). The GUIDs are produced on the client (in C#), and we are considering changing the client to generate sequential (comb) GUIDs instead of just using Guid.NewGuid(), to improve db performance.

If we do this, how will this affect installations that already have data with "random" GUIDs as clustered PKs? Can anything be done (short of changing all the PK values) to rebuild the indexes to avoid further fragmentation and bad insert performance?

Please give explicit and detailed answers if you can; I am a C# developer at heart and not all too familiar with all the intricacies of SQL Server.
