Questions[mamp](server)

I had MAMP successfully running in one of the user, but since I have created a new user to separate things between two developers, its throwing tantrums. I am pretty new to Mac itself but managed to find users with similar problems.

In my old user, Apache doesn't start and in the new user, MySql doesn't start. I have also verified that no other instance of mysqld is running, still it won't run MySql on my system. I have already restarted the system several times, even checked /etc for the file my.cnf, but there's no my.cnf inside /etc

Couldn't find any form to ask for a support on mamp.info and am desperately missing my Ubuntu now :-(

Here's the mysql log:

What can be the problem?

I'm running MAMP on OS X 10.7. I've set up a virtual host in Apache, like so:

In /etc/hosts I've added this:

127.0.0.1 example.local

Everything works fine, and up to maybe a week or two ago was very fast. I'm not sure what changed, but now the DNS Lookup portion of the request takes upwards of 5 seconds nearly every time the page is loaded, as reported by both Firebug and Chrome.

Pinging the local address looks good:

->ping example.local

64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.073 ms

Here's what Chrome shows:

If I refresh immediately after the first connection, the DNS lookup appears to be cached. But refreshing again a short time later causes the slow lookup again.

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure what site this question should be on, please feel free to move as necessary. I am working on a project in PHP where I need to differentiate between the folders 'a' and 'A'. When I run the script:

mkdir('A', 0700);
mkdir('a', 0700);

?>

Only 'A' is created. Is this a mac problem, or is there something in a config file that I can change?

I'm willing to install phpunit 5.3 with MAMP 1.9 and there for I need to upgrade PEAR to version 1.9.1. The current version installed is 1.9.0.

When I try the to upgrade I get the following:

sudo pear channel-update pear.php.net
sudo pear upgrade pear
Could not get contents of package "/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/bin/pear". Invalid tgz file.
upgrade failed

When I force the upgrade It still doesn't work:

sudo pear upgrade --force PEAR

How can I enable non-error server logging on MAMP (or, am I totally blind, and is it already enabled by default?)

So far, I can only find the error logs for Apache, MySQL and PHP in /Applications/MAMP/logs. But I'd like to access the server log (ie, the rawest data that the server processes, all of the HTTP requests that it received/served, etc.)
