I have Moodle which I already integrated to Active Directory (LDAP). The integration needs user for binding (To authenticate users). I want to limit that user because its currently member of Domain Admin, the Moodle site will not write anything back to the server, it will only read the objects. in Short, what is the best user security scenario that works with Moodle and has no write privilege?
One has a site with a lot of (a lot of a lot of) pages in HTML. The pages are managed through WordPress and includ motions, different fonts, videos, images, etc., ie, are elaborated pages.
Because of the Moodle is more usable, it is convenient to migrate for Moodle for continuing posting pages. However, is not good (1) Have two domains (the initial site and the moodle) nor (2) Make a PDF or other repository of the initial pages, as it would lose interactivity etc.
So, there is a manner to migrate HTML pages in automatically for Moodle (I mean, not one to one) with the minimun lose?
Thank you in advance.
I have to run Moodle production servers in Azure. Need to keep userdata (moodledata folder) in a common location like NFS for better management and scalability. I tried Azure Files-SMB service (premium-SSD). The problem is Moodle website become too slow to operate after I moved 'moodledata' folder to Azure Files.
As Azure SMB protocol is visibly terrible in performance for this application. I need to give a try in NFS. I found somewhere that NFS protocol performs better than SMB in handling files small in size down to KB. Moodle user folder is having thousands of such small files including user session related ones.
I am not familiar with Azure services, looking for an Azure alternative of AWS EFS. I am looking for a step by step guide on how to enable NFS4 in Azure storage account.
Last time I tried, it was asking for something like "Sign Up for NFS on subscription basis". Submitted one survey as part of the "Sign Up", later no idea what happened. Still during Storage Account creation time it shows NFS feature in disabled state. Please help.
If protocol is not really the performance bottleneck here then what else could be?

I've done some research into this and have not found a definitive answer.
We have a web app that is using the PHP+Memcache session handler.
I have several questions, all interrelated, but ultimately my issue is, "Why are PHP sessions apparently not expiring when we think they should be?" i.e. The end user should be logged out of the app after a set time, but is not.
Here are the dots, please help me connect them, and tell me where I am mistaken:
- My understanding is that Memcache expires keys based on the set time, in seconds (or unix timestamp for larger values).
- The expiration is lazy -- i.e. nothing is deleted in advance
- The PHP memecache session handler uses the sessions.gc_max_lifetime to set the memcache key expiration. idk, maybe it doesn't?
- Memcache should, on serving a requested key and seeing that it is expired, not serve it (and then maybe also delete it?). But at least not serve it.
- This act of not serving it should, to PHP, equate to a deleted session and the user being logged out.
Users are not being logged out.
How can I even debug this? Memcache isn't exactly transparent.
The example case that has not been working is a site with a session timeout set to two hours. An example user would last use the site at night, and then, 8 - 10 hours later, come back to the site and still be logged on.
