I am playing with unshare to better understand containers. As a normal user, is it possible to make a namespace where a program could listen, say, port 123 and on the "main" namespace a port 1234 would be redirected to it?
I guess it should be, as Podman is rootless container engine and can do it. Looking man veth did not help.
I have an existing network namespace:
dewi@dewiserver:~$ ip netns list
dewinetns235 (id: 0)
How can I get a docker container to use and run inside this network namespace?
e.g. run something like
docker run --rm curlimages/curl:7.81.0 --namespace dewinetns235 -L -v https://curl.haxx.se
So in this instance I want the curl command to exist within the dewinetns235 network namespace

I would like to have a psuedo-wire between two guests in KVM. I cannot use a bridge of any type as the guest VMs are actually virtual switches themselves.
Conceptually, it seems that a veth-pair is the way to go, but after much reading I don't see a way to do this. I can put each guest into its own network namespace, and I can link two net-ns together using veth, but I can't get KVM to recognize the interfaces within the namespaces.
Any help is appreciated.
Does windows have an equivalent of the Linux Network Namespace?
I want to create a new interface and have that interface only accessible to specific applications, that interface would not be listening on the standard windows ports (139 445 etc).
Ideally the application would not be able to use the other interfaces either, but that's less important for my use case.
Most importantly the interfaces would not communicate with each other at the OS level, they would need to actually send packets out to a physical/virtual network if they wanted to communicate between each other. The IP ranges could even be overlapped (of course then they couldn't talk to each other directly).
I know that ip netns add xxx command can be used to create a linux network namespace, but it is not permanent, meaning after server reboot the created namespace will be gone.
Then how can I create a permanent one which can survive server reboot?
