An error occurred while installing the database: │ │ ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using │ password: NO) .

Why on earth is it not prompting me for the root password during the setup of phpmyadmin? This is just baffling to me. It doesn't ask for the password, tries to log in without a password and of course gets denied. It only prompts me for a new password for the phpmyadmin user.

How can I solve this? I'm at a loss. This is a pretty fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. I've had MySQL setup and working for a while now with no issues. I can log in via mysql -u root -p with no issues at all.

I have installed nginx,php7.0-fpm and mysql on my ubuntu 16.04 server. Everything works fine however It doesn't load a setup page of phpmyadmin. Below is my phpmyadmin nginx block.

I need expert advice on this as I tried to change php-fpm listen mode from localhost port 9000 to php.sock. Same can observed in phpmyadmin nginx block config.

I am setting ssl_verify = false to avoid checking self-signed ceritifcates, given the little hack in libraries/dbi/DBIMysqli.php

The error logs dont really help either, no OpenSSL messages there. On the remote server, nothing related to the phpMyAdmin machine's IP address on the MySql server machine either.

What am I missing here?

1. I've got a 30K row table
2. When I run a long, 50-line query on that table, a GROUP function reduces the number of rows to 7K
3. I want to export the grouped 7K rows as a new table, or save them as a CSV

When I attempt to export, instead of getting the grouped 7K rows, I get the old, pre-query 30K rows. What am I doing wrong, and what should I be doing?

NOTE: I'm not a coder, so I'd really appreciate a solution that just used the phpMyAdmin GUI.

If you have db names like

test_db1
test_db2

phpmyadmin would create a group test. The group appears in the left side-bar with related databases displayed under it.

How can I disable this feature?
