My problem is to process images through ec2 instances.

Based this similar question: Separate server for Resque workers

I'm planning to have distributed workers around ec2 instances, lets say 3. But I havent figured out the right way to do this.

My doubts are:

1. I have to install resque on each amazon ec2 instance?
2. If yes, they have to share a single redis server or each one can have their own?
3. Is that right to use SQS and each intance will listen this global queue and process my incoming files?

While researching Unicorn configuration options I came across this snippet..

GC.respond_to?(:copy_on_write_friendly=) and
  GC.copy_on_write_friendly = true

If I undertand correctly, it optimizes how Unicorn handles memory allocation and resource sharing between workers?

I use Unicorn to power my Sinatra application on server with Ruby 1.9.3. Are there any downsides to including the copy_on_write_friendly setting in my unicorn config?

Is it possible to set a DNS record to redirect all example.com/* traffic to www.example.com/*?

I'm running a Sinatra app on Heroku's Cedar stack.

I set up Heroku's Custom Domains addon, and the documentation discusses Redirecting Traffic to a Specific Domain. I also read about how to do this with Rack Rewrite. However, I'm wondering if there's a way to do this via DNS, i.e., without hitting my app.

I'm trying to configure two applications to be served up by nginx. The first seems to be working fine and I duplicated the config for the second, however I'm having some problems.

I'm running a Sinatra server backed with Unicorn using sockets to pass the upstream information. I can reach the root domain fine (api.richardson.co.nz) and everything seems to be working ok, however as soon as I try to access a path off the root domain (api.richardson.co.nz/games) I get a "not found" error.

Would an error in the upstream server cause a "not found" to be returned? I'm pretty sure everything is working within the Sinatra server but I may have missed something.

I have a Sinatra app which I run on my local machine using ruby app.rb. While deploying it on a remote machine via ssh, how do I run it in background and redirect stdout and stderr to a log file?

On a restart, I want to preserve the previous logs so that newer messages are appended to the existing log file, instead of truncating it.

What's the recommended way of running my web application as a daemon?

I've tried nohup ruby app.rb &, but that seems to be missing stderr and the log statements seem to be out of order in some cases.
