I have Gentoo installed as guest OS. I have hardware clock synced with host system, but the clock of OS tend to be wrong after suspend.
The only solution I find out is run hwclock -s
frequently via cron.
Any better method?

I am running Windows 7 within a virtual Machine from my Mac. I use Windows 7 for Visual Studio primarily and also to host a dev install of IIS. There are two things I need and I am not sure what networking mode is needed ...
I need to be able to reach the IIS server (running on the VM) via HTTP from the Mac.
The web browsers on the virtual machine need to be able to access the internet.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Let me start for apologizing for my bad grammar. English is not my first language.
So here is what I want to do.
I need to build my own Linux distribution for a class in college. It's a contracted work for more points and I have limited resources.
I cannot afford to buy a 'dummy' machine so I thought I could use Vmware Fusion on a Mac. I can build just fine. But somehow my work goes away if I restart the Vmware machine. I'm assuming because it's booting from the ISO file each time.
My question is how can I, or even if it's possible, to tell Vmware to use an external hard drive for this project. Kinda how it can boot to the bootcamp partition. I want it to be able to boot to an external hard drive.
After a power cut VMWare Fusion (under Mac OS X 10.5.7) shows that a CentOS 5 .vmx is locked.
Clicking on the "padlock" brings up a dialogue with this message.
This virtual machine appears to be in use.
If this virtual machine is already in use, press the "Cancel" button to avoid damaging it. If this virtual machine is not in use, press the "Take Ownership" button to obtain ownership of it.
Configuration file: /Users/rjstelling/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/CentOS 5 64-bit - Development.vmwarevm/CentOS 5 64-bit.vmx
Clicking on "Take Ownership" fails, showing this message:
The virtual machine is in use by an application on your host computer.
Configuration file: /Users/rjstelling/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/CentOS 5 64-bit - Development.vmwarevm/CentOS 5 64-bit.vmx
I have no other VM software running. How can "unlock" this file and restart the VM?
I am wanting to get my feet wet with the Windows 7 x64 RC before I need to start supporting it. Has anyone run the RC on their MacBook Pro with bootcamp?
Also, Have you pulled the bootcamp partition into VMware Fusion?
