Questions[windows-pe](server)

I'm trying to set up a imaging environment. The idea is to use DISM to apply WIM images (Windows 10 Pro) over the network.

I am able to boot into Windows 10 PE. I have network connectivity via DHCP.

When I try to map the network share using net use i: \\server\share I get:

System error 58 has occurred. 
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.

If I try to map it with net use i: \\server\share /user:user password where user is a system user, it works.

The share is is completely public. I am able to map the share with no credentials on 4 other Windows machines. (2x Win7, 2x Win8).

The server is Ubuntu 14.04 running Samba. 4.3.9-Ubuntu.

My /etc/samba/smb.conf looks like this:

    wide links = yes

/share is owned by nobody:nogroup

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm trying to use ImageX from the Windows PE command line. When I run a capture command from the console

cmd> e:\imagex.exe /capture <whatever>

I get a nasty error like

the subsystem needed to support the image type is not present

What does that mean? How do I fix it?

1. How can I install an INF driver to WinPE 3.0 when it is mounted with DISM?
2. Once WinPE 3.0 is running, how can I install drivers, using their INF, to an offline system?

The offline system can be Windows 7, Vista OR XP.

I have a 16GB USB flash drive that I want to set up like this:

• It boots WinPE

• It has useful diagnostic and system maintenance tools

• There are several .ISO files of operating system install DVDs on the flash drive

• I can mount one of the .ISO files and start an OS install.

Perhaps there's a way I can use Virtual CloneDrive within WinPE?

Is there a good way to make a LTI installation wait for an ip address before its trying to start the installation wizard?

I currently get errors when i boot my PEimg that only says the network path to the deployment share is unavailable. ipconfig in the cmd.. I've got no IP :( ipconfig /renew gets me a valid ip-address though.

I'm using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, WAIK 2008 sp1, server 2008 Deployment services.
