I want to edit the Xfce4.12 Whisker Menu running on Ubuntu Studio 18.04.4 LTS in "/". I want to edit the categories like: "All", "Audio Production", etc using either the XML files or whatever files are needed to edit the menu and I also want to create new entries. I want to do it in the root directory because I want the changes to take global effect for all users and new users created in the OS. I also want to change and/or create new entries in the left column of the menu where the entries are "Web Browser", "File Manager", etc. The next thing I would like to change is the column width between the two columns. The last thing I would like to change and/or create new entries for is the bar at the bottom of the menu where it has the "All Settings", "Lock Screen", and the "Log Out" buttons. I want to edit these files from a root file manager or from a text based terminal only. I don't want to do it from the GUI. Where are the file locations I need and which/what ways do I do all this? Thanks for your help everyone.
I just upgraded to Xubuntu 20.04 and noticed the whisker menu search has a short delay before it actually starts searching, perhaps 0.3 seconds. It then has an animation where the application list moves down and shows the results. I don't care for this and would prefer an instant search and no animation.
I looked through the whisker menu settings but there's nothing there to go back to how it was before. Is there another way?
I've checked this answer, but it didn't work for me.
I want to use the older version of xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin
.
I issued the following command. (as per the instructions in the referred answer)
sudo apt-get install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin 1.4
It resulted as this.
Can somebody guide me to install the older version of whisker menu which was a nice single-column menu bar?
I've seen some stuff on here for this, but no solid answers.
I'm running Ubuntu Studio 18.10. I wanted to change the category icon in the Whisker Menu for Wine. I checked the Whisker Menu properties, and the default for editing applications was MenuLibre.
So I installed MenuLibre, changed the icon, and saved it. When I closed MenuLibre and opened the Whisker Menu the new icon was there, but lots of the icons for other programs were now missing. I would like to find a way to get them to show up again.
I can see stuff online of people reporting this issue, but no good solution. Any solutions to this would be welcome, as it gets pretty tiresome having to launch some of my programs from the terminal...
Thanks in advance.
I'm running Xubuntu 16.04 with whisker menu and trying to change the theme of whisker menu. I have read several tutorials but without success. I have in my home directory a .gtkrc-2.0 file with this content:
Also I read that I need to add this configuration in /home/vladimir/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css. I did but NO effect. As well in /home/vladimir/.config/gtk-2.0/gtk.css. NO effect. What I'm doing wrong? Is something is missing?
Thanks, Vladi
