Some time ago using Google Apps, I bought the domain bindsolution.com. I saw it was a field of GoDaddy.
Today I hired the services of GoDaddy hosting but it seems that both accounts are not the same.
I need to transfer my domain to be used with the hosting I just hire.
How do I do this? I have to do some setup in DNS?
I, like anyone else, am a cheapskate. The thought of paying $20–$25 per domain to the previous owner plus a $7.49 transfer fee on each to Go Daddy makes me cringe a little, because it would be only about $22 to just register the domains from scratch (if they weren't already registered).
Sure, Go Daddy provides a free one-year renewal on each transfer, so there's some value there, but I'm still wondering if there's a way to transfer the domains to my control without paying any transfer fees.
I have a domain I want. I found the owners contact information, and negotiated a price. Is there a domain brokerage service out there that would help me with the exchange. I don't want to send off money, and never hear from him again, and I'm sure it's likewise.
I've found a lot of sites that carry collections of domains for sale, but I've already found mine, and contacted the owner. I just want a service to facilitate the hand-off.
Has anyone used a service like this that they could recommend?
I wanted to buy some domain already owned by someone else. So I contact it's registrar, negotiated the price and came to a deal. Everything was done via e-mail.
Now what? How the actual domain ownership is transfered to me? What information should I asked for before giving any money to the registrant?
Note: the registrar is a well known domain name registrar, accredited by the ICANN and everything.
I have a few domains with Dreamhost where I have set a load of records using their web based domain name system, and I've like to move them to another provider that lets me enter info directly as a text file for their name server, bind 9 to use. (If you're interested, I'm moving them to Gandi.net).
Previously when I used a cpanel based system to do something similar, there was a tool that let me simply enter a domain name, and any available domains were automagically entered into a system, saving me typing it myself (and bringing down sites with silly typos in the process).
What open source tool can I use to query a domain for all the relevant subdomains and records and list them in a format like a zone file, that I can use with other name servers?
