I run a small start-up with 3 people working in 3 workstations (running Windows Vista/7) and a server running Windows Server 2008. Oh, I almost forgot... we also have a linux server (inside a VM hosted in the Windows Server 2008 server).

As we are just a few people with just a few nodes, we use a workgroup network model to avoid the configuration burden of a domain model.

• Is the workgroup model right for us?
• Should the number of users/nodes be the only factor to consider? I guess not. So, what other factos should we consider?
• If those other factos point to a workgroup model, but the network becomes to big. How big should it be (in terms of users and nodes) in order to migrate to a domain model an take advantage of its benefits?

I've installed Twiki and when I run the following command:

perl -I bin tools/mailnotify SomeWeb

I get the message stating that the notifications have been sent:

Processing SomeWeb
   * [email protected] : *

However, I'm not getting any e-mail with the notification.

It's seem to be some configuration problem, but I can't figure out what... I haven't found where to configure anything (the smpt server to use, the account on the smtp server to use).

I wanted to buy some domain already owned by someone else. So I contact it's registrar, negotiated the price and came to a deal. Everything was done via e-mail.

Now what? How the actual domain ownership is transfered to me? What information should I asked for before giving any money to the registrant?

Note: the registrar is a well known domain name registrar, accredited by the ICANN and everything.

I installed glassfish v3 some time ago and it's been a while since I last used it, so I forgot the port on which the server is listening and the port on which the admin console is listening. Moreover, i forgot the admin password!

I'm pretty sure I've change them because I've tried the default values and didn't work.

Is there any configuration file where I can look for them (at least the port numbers)?

I want to backup a mediawiki database stored in a MySQL server 5.1.36 using mysqldump.

Most of the wiki articles are written in spanish and a don't want to mess up with it by creating the dump with the wrong character set.

Using the following command:

I see that the table create statement set the charset to binary:

How should I use mysqldump to properly generate a backup for that database?

I'm using OpenVPN to set up a VPN to connect my laptop at home to my workplace LAN. I want to be able to refer my workplace computers by their name and not by their IP but I can't.

This is my situation:

Workplace LAN:

• Address space: 192.168.101.0/24
• Router address: 192.168.101.1

Home LAN:

• Address space: 192.168.1.0/24
• Router address: 192.168.1.1

VPN:

• Address space: 10.100.1.0/24
• OpenVPN server address: 10.100.1.1

All machines are running Microsoft Windows.

At my workplace, the PC running as the OpenVPN server is 192.168.101.50 (and 10.100.1.1 in the VPN), and its machine name is workplaceserver.

At my workplace the name workplaceserver is resolved to address 192.168.101.50, but in the vpn client the name workplaceserver can't be resolved, I want it to be resolved to 10.100.1.1. How should I configure OpenVPN in order to achieve that?

Is there any way I can install VisualSVN not installing Apache?

The thing is that I already have Apache installed in the same server, so I want VisualSVN to use that Apache installation.

By the way: I was told that VisualSVN is the best (easyest) alternative for installing SVN in Windows Server. Is that right?
