We are looking to deploy SfB Frontend and Edge with mobility client. We only have capacity for two new servers, so we cannot put a dedicated Reverse Proxy in.

Can we simply use NAT to get around this? i.e. on our Firewall device, NAT 443 to 4443 for external connections to the Front End for the External Web Services?

If so – what certificate would I assign to the External Web Services IIS site on the Front End to ensure SSL connections via valid certificate name? As it currently will use a internal signed cert, will I just change this to a Public Cert with all the appropriate names, or will this cause problems?

We have a Lync 2013 installation and are currently in the process of testing SIP functionality. Our current SIP trunk requires a username and password to authenticate. I can't find an awful lot of documentation for Lync on this.

Is there a way of configuring credentials for a SIP trunk in Lync, or is this just not do-able?

This is my first attempt to use the Centralized Logging Service to try to generate some logs for a problem a user is having, so perhaps I'm not doing something right. I'm using the commands below to start, stop and search the CLS, but every time I include a StartTime in the Search-CsClsLogging command it returns nothing.

This is the command I'm running to start the logging: Start-CsClsLogging -Pools 'pool01.domain.com','pool02.domain.com','edgepool01.domain.com','edgepool02.domain.com' -Scenario IncomingAndOutgoingCall -Duration 0.00:15

This is the command I'm running to stop the logging: Stop-CsClsLogging -Pools 'pool01.domain.com','pool02.domain.com','edgepool01.domain.com','edgepool02.domain.com' -Scenario IncomingAndOutgoingCall

This is the command I'm running to search the logging: Search-CsClsLogging -StartTime '7/20/2016 14:08:50' -EndTime '7/20/2016 14:12:51' -LogLevel All -OutputFilePath 'C:\logfile.txt'

I run the commands in that order Start, Stop, Search. When I include the StartTime parameter I always get no results returned. The documentation says the time should be in local time, which it is, but I've also tried using UTC and that doesn't work either. If I don't include the StartTime I get the log file written to.

Am I running these command incorrectly? I cannot see why including the time continually yields a blank output file.

The VDI plugin for Lync 2013 allows using Lync 2013 (which automatically becomes SFB after some updates are installed) over a remote desktop connection without performance penalties, by offloading the audio/video processing to the RDP client.

But what to do if you are using Office 2016 and Skype For Business 2016 on your virtual desktops / terminal servers?

So I successfully deployed Skype for Business 2015, registered our PIC at https://pic.lync.com, successfully ran Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer at https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ (says it tests only Lync but works for SfB as well).

An internal Skype for Business Client can successfully search the public Skype directory and add Skype accounts. However, the 'We've sent a contact request." part of the screenshot below never happens. In fact, the Skype user never gets a contact request.

Also, Skype Users can't search for our federated Skype for Business accounts in the public Skype Directory.

So obviously I must have missed something while deploying SfB, but I can't figure out what. I double and tripple-checked every deployment guide I could come up with, nothing. Double-checked our firewall ACLs as well, all good.

Any ideas?
