Questions[mom](server)

Like the title says, how can I remove FCS and MOM and not have the clients wait for updates from the server and go on its own to get updates from Windows Update automatically? Reason for this is we don't really need the FCS and MOM server and they're just taking up a lot of resources on our VM box.

All the information I've seen online are about how to get unmanaged clients to be managed by FCS and MOM. I'm trying to do the opposite here. I have a lab I can test this with so no problem with getting it wrong the first time but I'd rather save time, really.

I understand that this may be counter productive, but all this automation makes me lazy and not check any of the workstations for some light maintenance because I know something's behind me to take care of it for me.

We have a solution built in .Net that will be installed into a client environment.

The solution will span multiple servers and be running on multiple tiers. The client makes us of MOM (Microsoft operations Manager) to monitor the system.

What are the best counters to use for monitoring the overall health of the system? Are there any built in counters that we could add into a MOM Pack (as an Alert) to test a given scenario?

Any thoughts suggestions would be much apreciated.

This article discusses the WCF perf counters. The counters are not enabled by default. Enabling the method level counters may however have a performance overhead due to the sheer numbers.

We have already discussed these before, and we should be able to test and validate them as soon as we get a new stable build into the perf test environment.

I'd like to monitor various JMX properties and events from Java web applications running in JBoss Application Server (version 4.0) on Windows. I need to get this information into Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) in order to raise alerts based on appropriate criteria.

What are the options for getting the data from one to the other? The only possibility that I can come up with is JMX -> SNMP -> WMI -> MOM, but this seems more convoluted than it should be.

I'm open to all options, paid or free.

Using Microsoft System Center I continually have the following errors.

Alert description: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

We have Domain Controllers all over the place, they are happy and in sync. FSMO roles are spread out, and the network links are all fast and not saturated.

Anyone have this issue? If so how did you solve it?

Specific Error: Agent proxying needs to be enabled for a health service to submit discovery data about other computers.

We use Microsoft System Center 2007. The management server throws this error. I have enabled proxying per the instructions but alas the error re-occurs. Has anyone else had this and fixed it? or do I just disable the monitor?
