I've got two (2) nodes in an Oracle RAC 11g in Windows Server 2008. Oracle software is installed in C:\app.
I realized that the ORACLE_HOME path has not been set.. In System Properties-> Advanced -> Environment Variables, I see that ORACLE_HOME is empty, and I need it in order to run some Oracle patch.
Does anybody know whether it is possible to migrate Oracle SOA repository from a simple Oracle database to Oracle RAC?
I asked a question earlier about whether DBMS_ALERT works on the RAC. The answer was yes, and I have set up a VMWare test environment and confirmed it.
However, there seems to be a long delay between when the SIGNAL() call is made and the WAITONE() returns when they are different boxes.
My tests are the same as found on http://vitspinka.blogspot.com/2008/04/dbmsalert-on-rac.html
If I run the WAIT script on my RAC2 box, then SIGNAL on RAC1, the triggering can happen anywhere from 0.5 to 5 seconds later.
Strangely, if multiple WAIT scripts running simultaneously on RAC2, then SIGNAL on RAC1, the WAIT scripts do not all trigger simultaneously. They vary between 0.5 to 5 seconds.
Does anyone know of any tuning parameters or any details of how DBMS_ALERT works that can help with this?
I'm using Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi.
We have Oracle 11gR2 RAC database on two nodes. We also have a RMAN backup script that works fine, using a recovery catalog database which is located in a town 20km from the data center. The script for database backup works fine, and is started from crontab Job or from Oracle dbconsole (for now it works from crontab). A recovery procedure is checked and everything is working properly.
The problem is that the script runs from the first node in the cluster, and if the node is turned off, backup can't be run. How can we ensure that our script have a failover backup version. We also tried to do the backup over dbconsole but this only works if the node from which to start job was started.
Essentially the question is "How to ensure that our backup works, whether or not both nodes are active"
Is there an easy way to determine to which RAC node of an Oracle 11g R2 system I am connected? I am trying to perform some failover tests and I want to make sure my application is correctly connected to one node and upon the shutdown of this node node makes the transition smoothly to another node without any noticeable delay on the front end. Maybe it is worth mentioning that we make use of TAF.
I considered using Enterprise Manager for this, but I guess that when I am connected to one node running em and this node goes down I will not really have a chance to monitor the nodes connectivity status.
