Questions[sqlplus](server)

I have a problem with running SQL*Plus in the bash. Here is my code

I download the insert statements from our intranet, put it into sql file and run it through SQL*Plus. This is working fine. My problem is that when I save the file script.sql my encoding goes wrong. All special characters(like íášč) are broken and that's causing inserting wrong characters into my DB. Encoding of that file is UTF-8, also UTF-8 is set on the XSQL page on our intranet. So I really don't know where could be a problem.

And also any advices regarding to my script are welcomed, I am total newbie in Linux scripting:-)

I have installed oracle 10g on a ubuntu 10.x, This is my first time installation. After installing I tried to start it with the command below.

I can guess the problem is with permission issue, But i dont know where I have to do the change on permission.

Any help is appreciated ...

I have an PL/SQL Script that I'm trying to run from the command shell with SQLPLUS. However, whenever I go to run it, All I get back is a number and a cursor waiting for some input. When I hit enter, it just increments the number and repeats the process. Here is a dummy query that does the same thing

DECLARE
    cursor getServerTime IS
        SELECT sysdate as t  from dual;

    myTime getServerTime%ROWTYPE;
BEGIN
    open getServerTime;

    FETCH getServerTime into myTime;

    dbms_output.put_line(myTime.t);

    close getServerTime;
END;

to run this from the command shell I use: sqlplus me/myPass@myDB @"dummy.sql"

When I run sqlplus I get the following error:

Error 46 initializing SQL*Plus  
HTTP proxy setting has incorrect value  
SP2-1502: The HTTP proxy server specified by http_proxy is not accessible

I've just installed the oracle instant client on fedora 12 by doing the following:

I downloaded the rpms from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linuxsoft-082809.html

• oracle-instantclient11.2-basic-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
• oracle-instantclient11.2-devel-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
• oracle-instantclient11.2-jdbc-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
• oracle-instantclient11.2-odbc-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
• oracle-instantclient11.2-sqlplus-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
• oracle-instantclient11.2-tools-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm

I then installed them all using rpm

In addition I added this to my /etc/bashrc file and restarted the shell:

export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client  
export LD_LIBRARY=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib/  

OS: Fedora 12, 2.6.32.16-150.fc12.i686.PAE

This is a VMWare vm - that doesn't have access to the internet.

Perhaps I be using the i686 versions?

I would like to run an Oracle script through SQL Plus via a Windows command prompt. The script does not contain an "exit" command, but I would still like SQL Plus to exit, returning control to the command prompt on completion of the script. My goal is to do this without modifying the script. Is this possible?
