We have a IHS box that requires me to install mod perl.
I'm trying to work out if I should install mod_perl 1 or 2.
apachectl -v returns:
Server version: IBM_HTTP_Server/7.0.0.11 (Unix)
Server built: Mar 23 2010 12:49:10
http://perl.apache.org/download/index.html suggests that:
mod_perl 1 is for use with Apache 1.3.x and mod_perl 2 is for use with Apache 2.0.x / 2.2.x
Any ideas about IHS?
I need to start a hudson job from python, and then wait for it to complete.

What are the error rates for reading and writing to storage devices, and do our file systems and OS's account for this?
I've had bad sectors on my laptop's 320gb hdd for years now, and it seems to keep chugging along. I keep backups of everything because I'm anticipating a major failure anytime now.
What happens when a HDD has a bad sector? Are bad sectors common? Will operating systems work around bad sectors?.
What about the occasional HDD read write errors - seemingly these errors could cause catastrophic damage - do file systems have a mechanism for detecting and correcting these problems (eg. check sum)?
We are wanting to deploy our application to our Test server from our Hudson server.
I'd like to be able to have hudson copy the application files and start a script that would run locally on our Test server.
We can't use psexec because of a cross domain policy.
Currently we are doing this manually, by RDPing to the Test server and checking out the code from subversion manually.
Are there alternatives to PSExec that can bypass the cross domain policy problem?
When a RDP sessions time out, what happens to the running processes? Are they gracefully shutdown, and if that fails then forcefully terminated?
I'm running out of diskspace on a server - i've got a directory containing around 20gb of bkf files, which are backups of an ADAM store.
I'm thinking of applying NTFS compression to the folder to free up some space, is this a fruitless endeavor?

I'm having a spot of trouble with check_ldap.
my command is:
./check_ldap -H myhost.com -b o=ABC,c=D -p 1234
I'm getting the error:
"could not search/find object classes in o=ABC,c=D"
Any ideas what this means?
I'm trying to set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable for my nagios daemon user (it's a nologin user).
I've tried adding a script to export the variable in /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh (the execute bits are also set on this file).
This script sets the environment variable for my own user, but not for the nagios daemon.
When I run sqlplus I get the following error:

HTTP proxy setting has incorrect value
SP2-1502: The HTTP proxy server specified by http_proxy is not accessible
I've just installed the oracle instant client on fedora 12 by doing the following:
I downloaded the rpms from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linuxsoft-082809.html
I then installed them all using rpm
In addition I added this to my /etc/bashrc file and restarted the shell:
export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client
export LD_LIBRARY=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib/
OS: Fedora 12, 2.6.32.16-150.fc12.i686.PAE
This is a VMWare vm - that doesn't have access to the internet.
Perhaps I be using the i686 versions?

We are attempting to install ServletExec and get this puzzling error during the installation:
We are using install shield runtime version 0701; ServletExec is several years old, perhaps we should revert back to an earlier version of install shield?
We have tried running the installer as an Administrator to no avail.

I'm trying to rapidSSL certificate for a IIS hosted website - something is going horribly wrong.
I've tried to reissue twice now - the process I'm going through is this:
I get the error:
"The pending certificate request for this response file was not found. This request may be canceled. You cannot install selected response certificate using this Wizard."
I've ensured that the hostname on the CSR request matches the hostname entered in the RapidSSL renewal form.
I've checked that there aren't any extra whitespace characters in the reponse.cer file, and ensured that the certificate header and footers are copied correctly.
I'm really struggling.

We would like to be able to send and receive mail using an extra domain name. We want to be able to tack on extra email addresses (with the new domainname) to our existing AD users.
I've added the DNS entry, I just need to configure Exchange.
Can anyone give me some pointers?
Some additional information: I've added the new domain to our default recipient policy, and added the new email address to my user account - i can send mail to myself, but not from my gmail account. I also cannot send from this new address.

Our exchange server has suddenly stopped serving mobile devices. Attempts to connect result in our ActiveSync server returning HTTP 500.
It is serving outlook clients fine.
Our server is Windows 2003 SBS 6.5 SP2
There are no abnormal events in the system log.
I ran the "Exchange ActiveSync with AutoDiscover" at https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/
I've notice an abnormality in the exchange properties, Log File Directory shows:
Access denied.

Could I have some troubleshooting advice?
Our windows 2003 server has stopped all connectivity.
It's on 192.168.10.14. Our firewall is 192.168.10.1.
Attempting to ping the firewall returns "destination host unavailable". It was routing fine last night - no changes have been made to our firewall/router (which is one hop away).
I've rebooted the Windows machine to no avail.

There's no suggestion of the cause in the error logs (there are reports of failed services that depend on connectivity such as the time server)
Often in forums, comment boxes, blogs, etc, you may see that you and others have visited before at a certain date/time. Sometimes you see OTHER users' details: IP Address, country, etc. which may not have been expressly consented to by the user. Certainly it's legal for a site to record your visit in the form of your IP address, date/time, etc. There really shouldn't be a question about that. Who knows the kind of logs that ISPs keep.
Question: Do you consider it to be in bad form; sites that publicly post/expose/make available your IP address (or even country flag) in connection to your login/username?
I'm attempting to debug an application on Ubuntu - I need to listen to file open attempts (even for files that don't exist).

Our E1 connection is being closed by our firewall*. It happens intermittently every few days.
I find log entries like this one around the same time as the dropout:

The updated nameserver value shows in the whois report - does this mean that the update has completed?
If not, how long should I expect to wait for the change to complete?
