We just got a call from a US telephone number (001-, didn't get the rest of it) with an automated voice, stating that someone had sent spam mails from a server located in Berlin.

I didn't take the call, my colleague just got the first part of the number and a firm name (Something with ~computer network~ in it) It didn't seem like scam or spam, the voice just was informative with no chance to interact.

We did in fact sent our last newsletter (1,5 months ago) through a firm, located in Berlin. But all recipients opted-in for it and would not regard it as spam. We do this ~4 times/year. But it's the first time we didn't send them through our mail server.

So I would like to know who contacted us about it from the US and is this a common method to inform ? I would definitely prefer an sample e-mail sample to check some things for myself.

I'm trying to find a manual online and I'm not having any luck. I need to know the deregister/reregister procedure for an Alcatel Lucent 4029 handset. I'm trying to move a number from one desk to another one, so we just need to deregister handset 2, deregister handset 1 and then register the number from handset 1 onto the now blank handset 2.

All advice on whether I'm trying to do it the wrong way is greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a phone system that integrate well with an (almost) 100% Microsoft environment.

I would like something that can integrate with Exchange and Active Directory (in-phone searching/calling by name (is this possible using SIP ?), etc) and if possible something not too expensive (Bye bye Cisco !), what do you recommend me ? I've heard of 3CX as IPBX and Aastra as Phones, are they good for this ? Or do you know something else good at this ?

I've also seen some Alcatel IP Phones doing this (search by name, but I think that was a separated address book and not loaded from AD/Exchange)

In my cage I don't get good enough phone reception. A phone that goes over the network also doesn't seem ideal for when I am working on the network.

Do people have traditional phones delivered to their cages? I am wondering what my options are.

I was dreaming about the DNS system and how awesome it is. In my dream I realized that my cell phone had a somewhat similar system to DNS built in – when I browse to a contact and select someone to call, the phone automatically resolves the name to a phone number.

Then the idea came to me:

What if I could add a “T” (telephone) record to any of my existing domain names? So if someone tries to call kirkouimet.com, it resolves to my personal cell phone number? The business implications are really cool IMO: what if I could just call pizzahut.com? If they were smart they would have their system geolocate me, find the nearest Pizza Hut, and route the call there.

1. How hard would it be to extend the DNS functionality to include this?
2. Is the idea good enough to pursue beyond just thinking about it?
