In the esx 6.7 version, there is no template creation option.

I tried this link, but no options available as shown.

This is for creating templates, these options also not visible. Please suggest. FYI, I am using the root account and it is a licensed version.

I often want to include default values in Puppet templates. I was hoping that given a class like this:

class myclass ($a_variable=undef) {
  file { '/tmp/myfile':
    content => template('myclass/myfile.erb'),
  }
}

I could make a template like this:

a_variable = <%= a_variable || "a default value" %>

Unfortunately, undef in Puppet doesn't translate to a Ruby nil value in the context of the template, so this doesn't actually work. What is the canonical way of handling default values in Puppet templates?

I can set the default value to an empty string and then use the empty? test...

a variable = <%= a_variable.empty? ? "a default value" : a_variable %>

...but that seems a little clunky.

See my node's configuration:

 $property_name = {
     "unit_1"  => { host => [ "dns_name1/192.168.0.1/25" ,"dns_name2/192.168.0.2/25" ] 
                  },
     "unit_2"  => { host => [ "dns_name3/192.168.0.3/25", "dns_name4/192.168.0.4/25" ] 
                  },
 }
 include class::property

In the template, I used some loop with

"<% property_name.each do |key,value| -%>", 
"<%= value['host'][id_host].split("/")[0] %>", 
 <%= value['host'][id_host].split("/")[1] %>,

... to write config files.

But, when I have a lot of "units" (unit_3, unit_4, etc.) the template's content changed every time Puppet's daemon runs.

It didn't have any impact because the config file is correct but I would like to know if the template's loop could generate config files in this order : unit_1 then unit_2, then unit_3, ... without to take some unit randomly.

I'm looking for a network incident report template.

Is there any template that you use in your company?

We use Word 2003 on all computers; we also use Group Policy to set a shared "workgroup templates" folder, which is really useful as we can just copy .DOT files into there to make them accessible to all users.

We have a company policy that all documents must have a filepath and a page number in the footer. I'd love to be able to override the default Word template to include these if possible - can anyone suggest a neat, efficient way of doing it?
