First time posted on serverfault. We have a bunch of windows CE devices that hate our DHCP server (likely a bug) but lets ignore that.

Say we can't use DHCP at all. But we have devices that may connect one of two Gateways wirelessly, say one gateway has ip XXX.Y0.1.1 the other has XXX.Y1.1.1 both with a subnetmask 255.255.0.0.

Is there any possible way to set a windows CE machine to have a static IP address, and hardcode in that it would try first, XXX.Y0.1.1 if that doesn't work then XXX.Y1.1.1.

We used to use a consumer-grade stand-alone Linksys WRT54GL with our Motorola (Symbol) MC3090R mobile scanners, and the battery life would be about 6 hours of continuous wireless scanning.

Now we are using a centrally-managed enterprise wireless using HP E-MSM430 access points controlled by a central MSM760. Since changing the have found that the battery life on the scanners has halved to around 3 hours continuous use.

It doesn't seem to make any difference what encryption type I am using (I have tried both WPA2 and open (no encryption)).

Any ideas what might be happening here and how to resolve this?

Good morning, everyone! I have a problem with Motorola MC3190 hand scanner running on Windows CE.
I've got few of those to make a new program for some kind of warehouse. There is already installed program which have been used by the customers before, so I delete this one and instead I install my new software which I've just made. It is running very well, but when I take out the battery and leave the device for entire night without power supply, it restores the whole configuration, so the old program is back, the wireless configuration is back and... Yeah. The scanner is restored to the configuration which was running when I received it few weeks ago. What I want to do is to set the whole configuration of the scanner so after a long power-off my program and my configuration will be restored.
I truly believe someone knows how to do it. The time is running out, and I believe that the customer will be kind of annoyed when he will change the battery and the program which he bought will be gone. ;-)

Does anyone know what registry keys are used to enable ActiveX in IE on windows-CE devices? I have to configure a lot of these devices. The settings aren't saved when changed in IE itself. I need to get rid of the following message:

This page provides potentially unsave information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly

I have an Acer WT 300 thin client that boots Windows CE. I purchased this device several years ago at an auction and need to reset the administration password so that I can alter the network configuration.

When I press F2 at the Terminal Connection Manger screen I'm prompted for a Terminal Settings password, which I do not have.
