I have following line in my cf file

Fw/etc/mail/local-host-names

and following lines in local-host-names file

mydomain.com
hostname.mydomain.com

but when I send mail to [email protected], sendmail is accepting mails for it. otherhost.mydomain.com resolves to one of the private IP address. What could be the reason?

I am looking at whois record for a domain to know who is the registrar of the domain. But the whois record has following line for registrar.

Sponsoring Registrar:Network Solutions, LLC (R63-LROR)

So what is sponsoring registrar and why it is used? I googled the term and found that it is something related to reseller domain but could not understand the concept.

I have a setup of OpenLDAP v2.3 which I am using for last few years. Following are the lines in slapd.conf for access control.

access to dn.one="o=abc, c=IN"
        by * read

access to dn.base="o=abc, c=IN"
        by * none

When I do ldapsearch using anonymous bind gives me result.

For example following command gives result.

ldapsearch -x -h localhost -b "o=abc,c=IN" 

Now I upgraded the OS, CentOS from 5.5 to 6.3 so the version of OpenLDAP is OpenLDAP v2.4. We have not changed the schema.

But now the same ldapsearch gives me result: 32 No such object error.

But it works when I added following line in access control configuration.

access to dn.one="o=abc, c=IN"
        by * read

access to dn.base="o=abc, c=IN"
        by anonymous read
        by * none

What can be the reason? Is there any security risk in doing so?

I have a cyrus-imapd server running for last five years. The cyrus-imapd version is 2.2. Now I have set up a new mailbox server with cyrus-imapd version 2.3. I need to migrate all mailboxes to this new server. As far as I know I should follow either of the following two methods.

1. Use imapsync to transfer mailboxes
2. rsync all mailboxes to new server and then reconstruct all of them on new server

I do not want to setup imapsync so rsync followed by reconstruct remains.

But I tried moving random five mailboxes to new server without following reconstruct. I did following.

1. rsync mailboxes to new server
2. copied mailbox-name.seen and mailbox-name.sub from /var/lib/imap/ to new server

And I am able to access those mailboxes without any problem on new server. So can I move mailboxes and corresponding .seen and .sub files directly to new server without following reconstruct? and what exactly reconstruct do?

Note: I am not using any kind of quota on cyrus mailboxes so I don't want any quota figures.

I have a 5GB mailbox which I moved using imapsync. But somehow I messed up with --delete/--delete2 option and end up with almost all the messages having \Deleted flag set. I do not have delayed expunge enabled, so I can not use unexpunge utility. I am using cyrus-imapd v2.3.7. Using cyrus-imapd's debugging feature I found out that email client(Roundcube in my case) fires following IMAP command to unset it.

UID STORE 179 -FLAGS.SILENT (\Deleted)

I don't know if somehow I can fire this command for all the mails.

Is there any way I can unset \Deleted flag for all the mails in the mailbox?

UPDATE:

Using @geekosaur's tip of specifying range of message-ids in the above command, I could solve it for one mailbox under INBOX like INBOX.folder1. Is there any way I can do it for multiple mailboxes under INBOX recursively? Now I am working on solving it using/creating some script, maybe using Perl's IMAP related module. But still I need to solve it asap so inputs are welcome.
