I have currently one Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 server installed, it's successfully running 4 VM's, but memory/RAM is starting to become sparse. I actually have a 2nd machine available, so my great idea was go ahead and set up a second Hyper-V server on the 2nd machine; to avoid buying more RAM and storage space, since the second machine already has RAM.

Then I thought of one snag.

I want to use one public-facing domain name; so is it possible for me to setup a cluster of two Hyper-V server's, each one hosting 4 VM servers dedicated to one-purpose as follows:

Server 1:

• SQL Server 2012
• Gaming Server
• TeamSpeak Server
• Team Foundation Server 11

Server 2:

• Domain Controller
• Exchange Server
• Sharepoint Server
• IIS/WebServer

If possible, how would I do it?

The Windows Update screen comes up and I click on Download Updates. I then get the bar scrolling across the screen and it says Downloading Updates but the counts never increase (0 KB total, 0% complete). I've tried several things found via Google to resolve this but so far nothing has worked.

I've re-registered and sfc'd about every DLL I can think of that might be at all related (a little over 150), I'm not using any proxy servers.

I've downloaded the updates manually, but Windows stalls with a "Searching for updates" that never finishes searching.

Only errors I can find in my log are as follows:

Upon googling the first error, I came across some resolution steps:

1. Click on Start and type services.msc into the search box, then click on services as it appears above. Scroll down the list to Windows Update, right click on it and select stop.

2. Type this into the search box %windir%\SoftwareDistribution click on "Software Distribution" in the box above and delete the entire contents of the "Download" folder.

3. Go back and turn the Windows Update service back on.

Which, I've already tried, and no luck.

Later on, it says to download Microsoft's MicrosoftFixit.wu.Run.exe and try that, which I have and no luck. I've also tried Microsoft patch Windows6.1-KB947821-v14-x64.msu which stalls with the ever so annoying "Searching for updates on this computer" forever.

I've tried downloading the third-party FixWU and nothing.

I've tried forcing a reinstall of the Windows Update agent using WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe /wuforce

I've checked the PC for anti-viruses, rootkits, mal-ware, nothing of that sort. I reset all the VPN connections, and turned off the firewall temporarily, still nothing.

I've checked access permissions on C: and it's sub-folders, both built-in Users and Administrators have read/write privileges.

Also tried everything in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358, and manually rebuilding/reinstalling the Windows Update agent.

I'm at my wit's end here, not sure what else to do/try, any suggestions???

I need to re-build a Server 2008 R2 instance, but I don't want to lose all the current Active Directory info, what's the best way to go about it?

The reason I'm rebuilding over repairing is great, as the server has many issues (I inherited them from previous IT):

• Cannot upgrade domain forest functionality level from 2000 to 2008
• Cannot download Windows updates
• Cannot use Enterprise anti-virus agents
• SQL Server is non-functional
• Roles/Feautures error out, and won't even let you view the list
• Partition structure is messed up

Any one or two of these issues, and I'd just try to repair the server, but at this point; unless there's no way to safely migrate the AD users/permissions, I think I'm better off with a clean install.

I'm trying to check a rather large file into Team Foundation Server (TFS) and getting the following exception.

TF30042: Database is Full. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator.

Problem is, I am the administrator. I've checked the database files (both collection and tempdb), and I'm nowhere near the limits in SQL Server 2008 R2, and I've set AutoGrowth to use 8gb chunks and unlimited size on both the database and log files. We have plenty of disk space on the drive that the SQL Server database resides on, and I don't see any size limits in the TFS Administration Console.

From everything I can tell, it seems that I should be fine, what am I missing?
