I was wondering if it was at all possible to take mail messages from an old vpopmail Maildir and put them into a new dovecot Maildir without editing settings in the new installation (as the new system is web managed now and I don't want it to fall out of sync!)

I've setup ispconfig3 on my debian six server, and here is a little smtp over ssl:
The server is postfix

but, the thing is, if I just do a vanilla telnet over port 25 I can authenticate and send mail like a madman... hopefully this is enough information! (as opposed to 'mail.app can't handle ssl!')
