I had at home an NAS and in the datacenter a Server. I make an SSH Tunnel with the following command:

autossh -fN -M20404 -R 1337:localhost:22 user@server

(from the nas to the server) Its working and I can access the NAS. Now, I want access the munin-node, also I make a new tunnel from the server to the nas:

ssh -N -R 49499:localhost:4949 localhost -p 1337

but if I make an nmap localhost -p 49499 the port is closed and i cant access the munin-node.

I don't know why and I am very happy about your help.

I want to really often the synonyms_*.txt in the solr server. I have 2 cores. One for the production System and one the staging. I copy with incron and scp the new generated synonymes to the solr server and restart the tomcat to reload it.

But it can be broken if any config is crap or any product is actually in the update process. Give it any solution to restart/reload one core only via cli?

I really love git and now I have setup an remote repositorie. Thats pretty cool but I cant find the plain data like. My Idea was:

local development > commit, commit, commit and if ready for the production > push to remote > and the git repositorie is the virtual host in apache and the data is live.

Is my thiniking really wrong or how can I realize that?

I have build an testlab for puppet, but it doesn't work. I start puppet agent on the node and it waits for the certificate.

root:~# puppet agent --server xxxx --waitforcert 60 --test

On the Server, now pending certificate requests are found:

The certificate file is not found.

we have round about twenty Macbooks (mixed Snow Leopard and Lion) in our Company and thinking about a backup solution. Now we can buy a lot of time machines and make backups or we want a Storage System which is compatible with the time machine deamon.

Anyone have any experience with mac os backups in professional use?

We have many servers and still want to update them all. The actual way is that any of the sysadmins go from server to server and make a aptitude update && aptitude upgrade - it's still not cool.

I am searching now for a solution which is still better and very smart. Can puppet do this job? How do you do it?
