We are offering hosted Exchange services and are in an Microsoft Exchange 2010 only environment with a Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller.

My problem is that all the customers have access to the GAL, which contains....all the customers. We obviously do not want that, but I have no idea on how to :

1. Restrict access to the Global Address List to only me and my fellow administrators
2. Create a Global Address List for each Organizational Unit and restrict access to it to the designed Organizational Unit
3. We have also created regular Address Lists for each OU but all the customers also have access to these.

Ok so here's the problem :

I've got users using logon script in the domain (username.bat). The script simply lists 4 or 5 (net use letter: \\SERVER\directory\). However, when they open their session, the logon script doesnt work and returns system error 53 or 67 for all of them. I tried running the script after the profile has loaded and evrything is running, and it still gives me the error.

I've then tried to run the same command in the cmd.exe. Everything mapped correctly. It also works fine if I map the drives using the "Tools > Map network drives" utility.

Is there anything that can prevent a command to work when ran in a batch-file but works correctly when typed in manually?

The issue is this :

Our company has a website hosted on an IIS server. I have recently been given the task to configure a WordPress server for an eventual WordPress blog so that our social media employee could test and see how it works.

This was completed successfully and easily on a new server and on a WAMP configuration. The website was published as wordpress.domain.com and works fine.

HOWEVER! I have now been requested to ensure that the soon-to-go-online blog would be accessible through the address domain.com/blog.

Is there a way to modify the original company website and simple redirect the /blog to the Apache WordPress website? If not, is there a way to transfer the wordpress.domain.com on the IIS server hosting the main website and keep the configuration? Is there a better solution that I haven't thought about (probably)? If so, what would you all suggest?

Ok so the title pretty much says it all.

We are offering a Hosted Exchange solution for our customer. Everything is working fine except for one customer complaining that he is receiving winmail.dat or winmail.txt attachments instead of the actual Word Excel or PowerPoint attachments he should be receiving, only when these messages come from a specific European senders, that is using Lotus Notes.

I know that usually the problem is coming from Outlook senders to other mail clients, but this is not the first they inform me of this but I can't find anything on the matter so far.

Has anyone ever gotten and solved this problem? If not, does anyone have any idea regarding this?

I had solved this problem a few months ago, by upgrading Outlook to SP2 and then uninstalling it using the Service Pack removing tool of Microsoft. It seems that only the latest SP1 version could work but not the SP2.

The problem is that now nothing is working at all.

We are hosting a Microsoft Exchange Server. Everything working fine until recently, where the mail transport seems to go wrong. We almost have to restart the service every morning. The thing is that the transport service is started, but the mail are not delivered to the users and senders to our server get a delayed delivery notification. When we restart the service, all the mail is then delivered to the users and we're good to go for a day or two.

Things I've noticed : The store service is growing to around 6 Gb of used RAM, and the w3wp.exe service is hanging around 700mb RAM.

Is there a way to schedule a restart of the transport role every 4 hours or something while I'm solving the issue so I don't have to worry when I leave for the week-end? And most of all...does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue?

I am using Asterisk and there seems to be a problem with the delay that the server answers a call. What actually happens is that the caller hears a busy tone and then hangs up, but a channel is opened on the server so after around 20 seconds the phone rings at the fail over destination of the IVR. When the receptionists picks up the phone, there is no one on the other end of the call.

I called my provider and there was a 2 seconds timeout on their call transfer. I asked them to remove it, and the problem seemed solved. I was contacted by my customer today and they were saying that the problem still occurs but there is no "busy tone" anymore.

Since the origin of the problem is a timeout of the call pickup, I was wondering if there is a way to speed up the call pickup by asterisk, because the call is transferred from our provider to our asterisk server, but it is taking too long for our server to accept the call so the caller hangs up, or it simply doesn't connect and the caller hears ringing until he hangs up.

Any ideas would be appreciated as I am at a lost right now.

We are offering hosted VoIP. The Asterisk servers are running in our data center and customers connect their Aastra phones remotely to it. However, I have one customers connected to his own PBX and he is having connection issues. The phones often lose their connection to the server (No service) and sometimes their ongoing call is simply cut off and all phones lose connection to the server. I have checked the logs but there doesn't seem to be anything unusual, so I have started to wonder if their hardware setup might be the cause.

Here is how they are setup :

Their Internet connection arrives at their office from a modem, which is then connected to their ISP router to provide their static IP. This then goes in their Netgear router for a DHCP server. Then, this is connected to their 3com Switch to provide all their office.

Their phones are connected to the switch and their computer are connected to their phones. I was wondering if the setup, or the switch/router could be the problem. I have ordered a new switch and a new router, as the switch is pretty old.

I would like to know if you guys have any idea that could help me find the source of this problem. I can provide more information if needed.

The situation is as follows: I have installed SCVMM on our Windows Server 2008. I can create VMs fine, use them, etc. Everything works fine with the VMs themselves. However, if I decide to do the following: Migration of an existing VM, Cloning an existing VM or creating a new VM based on an existing VM's VHD, the SCVMM console loses connection with an error 1612 message and has to start, thus failing the job.

When the console restarts, the job log indicates that the operation was aborted because the console restarted (Error 1700), so that doesn't really help.

I search a lot but I still can't find anything related to this issue. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Or does anyone have a solution or other information that could help me solve this problem?

We have a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and offer this solution to many customers.

Recently, a customer had his personal Exchange server crash (which is what made him our customer). He called some technician to see if he could repair his server before calling us, but this said tech wasn't able to do anything for them.

Now that all his mailbox are on our server, he would like to transfer his old emails over to the new profile, but the tech deleted all profiles on the client machines while trying to repair his Exchange server.

So my customer still has the OST files but they are not related to any profiles. Is there any way to re-attach them to a profile, or to convert them into PST files that he could then import into his new profile?

The only thing I found were third party software that could to the conversion, but I am wondering if Microsoft has any tools that could re-attach the OST to a new profile.

I have also tried the scanpst.exe and scanost.exe to no avail.
