As Nexenta is built on Illumos, a successor of OpenSolaris, I was wondering what components are involved in their storage metro clustering?
Can anybody enlight me as to what components are doing this site-to-site mirroring?
If these components are open source, is it possible to build your own site-to-site storage cluster?
I have headless Supermicro server with IPMI as my ESXi 5 but I would like to use serial console as default console for ESXi instead of accessing it via IPMI VGA console redirection. I have some problems with java with IPMI and I also prefer text ui :)
I tried to follow Redirect the Direct Console to a Serial Port Using the vSphere Client but no success.
My goal is:
My server has serial console. Next step would be to setup IPMI SOL.
Can anybody share how to do it? The procedure above didn't work for me.
How to check that ESXi was booting with serial port as console?
is there a opensource log correlation application? I know only SEC[1]. The best would be if the application could work in clustered setup and would understand even structured logs, not only free-text logs (like those from syslog).
