I have software RAID (RAID-1) enabled on 2 pairs of Drives on Windows Home Server 2008 R2. To test the redundancy, I unplugged a drive while the server was running. About 30 seconds later Disk Manager reported the break in fault tolerance. However, nothing was written to the event log.

I was hoping to find a way to alert me via email when something was wrong with software RAID, but it appears there isn't an easy way to do this if nothing is written to the event log.

Does anyone know how to monitor for Software RAID failures on Windows?

My Dad's Outlook constantly asks him for Autodiscover settings. Since he is using 1and1 and I'm hosting the domain and doing email forwarding, I'd like to disable the Autodiscover process on his PC. How do I do that?

This is specifically the Exchange HTTPS Autodiscover process for Cached Exchange on Outlook 2007.

Installing Windows from a thumb drive is vastly superior to burning a copy to a DVD which will fill some landfill somewhere with toxic stuff. Not to mention it's about 50x faster to install Windows from a USB Thumb Drive.

How do you get the bits onto the thumb drive so that you can boot from it and do a clean install?

By default a domain joined machine will ask you to enter Control-Alt-Delete before you can select a user with which to logon to the machine.

This isn't necessary and can be an inconvenience (although it does present a more secure screen from which to start logon). How do you disable this?
