I'm running multiple VMWare ESXi (free) instances installed on blade system. Is there any possibility to monitor this multiple instances (which are not using any distributed vswitch - each has its own) using one standalone Security Onion instance? Security Onion runned on one ESXi can only monitor VMs from ESXi on which is running (vSwitch promiscious mode enabled) but can't access other ESXi servers VMs ethernet traffic.

is there a way to skip "Scanning and repairing drive" (different than "C:") on Windows Server 2012 startup? In previous Windows systems this could be done by pressing any key during startup when Windows tried to fix problematic drive but I don't see any option in Windows Server 2012.

How I can check for exact amount of space left (MB or GB) in Nagios using check_nt command instead of percentage value?

Currently I'm using this command:

 check_command           check_nt!USEDDISKSPACE!-l c -w 90 -c 95

but this is checking for percentage value of used disk space and I want to receive notification when I will have exact amount of GB left on some drive (for example warning when there will be 10GB left and critical when there will be only 5GB left).

I'm running IIS 7 server where users are using dedicated application pools so I need for all of them separate users. I'm moving my environment to XenServer and I'm using for this XenConvert tool. Everything is fine except that I need to synchronize Windows local users between this two Windows instances. I don't have problems with files and their permissions since I use for it robocopy.

Any idea how to just copy users between this two Windows systems?

I would like to run a program only when a specific ASP.NET event occurs in the event-log. Is there any chance that it will get passed the event details when it is triggered?

How to handle application pools which uses too much memory or CPU? I would like to have possibility to select for how much time application pool is using certain amount of memory or cpu (or both) before it will be recycled. Any idea how to achieve this? IIS7 allows to kill app pool when it reaches some level of CPU usage but I'm interested in recycling it.

I'm getting this error:

When I try to backup my Windows 2008 R2 Web Server. I had identical problem some time ago (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsbackup/thread/0dbcb0d8-bf73-4cb2-b41f-f0bc8aafc4af) with my other system but solution which worked back then (disabling System State backup) is not working in this case.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Just to let you know I've removed all shadow copies and cleaned windows backup history, I've recreated Windows Backup destination drive. Nothing helped. Error is showing when creating shadow copies message is displayed.

Running vssadmin list writers command also is not returning any errors.

Checking Windows updates using SIGVERIF also returned nothing interesting (all are signed).

Trying to backup only System State also failed.

Backuping only D: drive worked.

does difference between timezones on Windows Server 2008 where backup was made and reovery console makes difference? Recovery console (wbadmin from command line too) is not finding any backup on local hard drive connected to server.

EDIT2: This is not related to timezone. When I connected backup hard drive from Windows 2008 R2 Release Candidate recovery console runned from RTM system version DVD found stored backups from it without problems.

does someone faced error "The RPC server is unavailable" during connecting to Disk management MMC console to Hyper-V Server R2? Servers are in the same AD domain and MMC console is enabled on Hyper-V.

I have strange problem. I've turned on incremental backup in Windows Server Backup so if I'm not wrong every backup allows to retrieve files from certain point in time. Does anyone can tell me why when I'm recovering MySQL database data folder I'm getting latest backup instead of backup from point of time which I selected to recover?

does anyone know how to backup Windows 2008 R2 with hidden partition to a network share? For Windows 2008 I used:

Wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\Backup -include:C:,D: -vssFull -quiet 

but now when Windows 2008 R2 has his hidden 100mb partition on first disk I don't know how to add it to "-include:C:,D:".
