My network provider has allocated me a IPv6 /56. My goal is to give a /64 to each virtual machine I have. They told me they would route the /56 to my CentOS Xen server and I would have to handle the routing to the VMs.
Do I assign 2001:db8:1111:15::2 to the host server's network config with ::1 being the gateway?
Message from provider:
We have routed the IPv6 addresses to you vlan.
2001:db8:1111:15::1/122
Then we routed
2001:db8:2222:2000::/56 to 2001:db8:1111:15::2
Simple printing setup. 3 machines, 2 printers. One prints invoices, other prints misc documents.
We use $300-400 range dell laser printers. Usually they work great. 3 times now, we have replaced the printers with the same and different models. Often going to the next model up or newer.
For no noticeable reason, A printer will start acting up. Test pages and documents output gibberish. Sometimes hundreds of pages that don't stop until we power cycle. Regardless of the spooler queue.
Reinstalling printer and drivers do not help. Due to wiring constraints, the printers are each attached via USB and shared over the network.
Any ideas?
I'm going to do my best to outline our current setup and our plan and hopefully you guy can assist in the best possible setup.
We have two offices (A and B). Each office has about 10-15 systems. 3 systems in each office are attached directly (usb) to a printer.
Each office has a decent line with more than capable bandwidth. Maybe I should be using VPN routers?
We have a powerful server (2012 r2) in a seperate NYC data-center with a full gigabit connection. Due to having multiple locations needing to access the same software, we have setup a remote desktop services / domain controller on that system. It also serves as a VPN server.
The office systems are all connected individually to the VPN server and assigned a static IP address (192.168.50.2-254). The systems with printers attached in each office have the printer shared over the VPN. The printers are then deployed using gpedit to all the users.
The printing however is extremely slow. Test pages tend to freeze for a good 30 seconds before spooling. Then it takes another 30-40 seconds to finish spooling and send it off to the printer. We have another similar setup where we used server 2008 and it does not have this same problem.
Does anyone have any idea what could be getting in it's way? Is there an alternate setup I should consider?

We are experiencing extremely slow printing times. Opening printer properties can take 30-60 seconds and printing times range from 30-180 seconds with no apparent reason. File sizes remain < 1mb.
This happens with each of our printers. All different models.
The server massively underutilized with a 6-core AMD, 16GB ram, 4x 120GB SSDs, and a 100 megabit port. Our VPN does not seem to be a bottleneck either.
I've been attempting to find ways to increase print speed. So far no success. What can you advise?

I'm attempting to install CentOS 6.4 (64-bit) VM on it. During the install, I run into issues.
The graphical installer does not seem to allow the mouse to work. (I'm RDPing to the host machine as I do not have console access).
The text installer seems to be fine, except for the fact that it's not detecting the IDE VHD hard-disk that is attached. The attached VHD is blank.
Other example (likely the same issue):
When attempting to use OpenVPN access server's virtual appliance. I get a lot of:
hv_vmbus: probe of vmbus_0_4 failed with error -110
At the end:
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/284b1cdc-c74d-47df-b7ea-1f99c01594e4 does not exist. Dropping to shell.
I'm attempting to build a system for co-location. I've been running into issues while trying to install CentOS 6.3
System Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS m5a99x Process: AMD FX-8120 (8-core Bulldozer) Memory: 2x 4gb G-Skill 2133 running at 1600
I keeps giving me an error message:
CPU1: Not Responding.
CPU2: Not Responding.
CPU3: Not Responding.
CPU4: Not Responding.
CPU5: Not Responding.
CPU6: Not Responding.
Then it instantly restarts.
I have tried installing it from USB, Multiple DVDs, Multiple Distros. I have also in the bios attempted to disable cores. I was able to disable 2/3 4/5 6/7.
I have also ensured that there is zero overclocking. The system works fine in a windows environment. I'm out of ideas.
I do not wish to limit the rate of a specific service. My goals is to limit rate based solely on the incoming IP address. For example using a pseudo-rule:
john.domain.local (192.168.1.100) can only download from our httpd/ftp servers at "10KB/s" (instead of 1MB/s)
How could I rate limit using IPTables based on incoming IP addresses?
