Several months ago...my entire work domain network started having problems accessing yahoo.com. The web page appears as though there is some sort of scripting error...i.e. pictures and news feeds don't load correctly and the site's navigational buttons (Mail, News, Sports, Finance, Weather...etc) all appear on the left hand side of the page as simple blue hyperlink text.

Then, about two weeks ago the entire domain started having problems streaming videos from youtube as well. The web page loads fine, but when I try to play a video...it "thinks" for a second or two then skips straight to the end where the video plug-in offers links to similar videos.

Up till now, I've been approaching this issue with the assumption that its caused by some sort of scripting issue with the browsers. So I started my troubleshooting by trying to access the same sites from within the domain using different browsers. Chrome, Firefox and IE all yield the same result. After that I tried clearing the local browsing cache, changing some scripting settings within the browser itself or, in the case of the youtube issues, updating/reinstalling flash player.

I am able to take my laptop home and view both web pages without issue. This has led me to suspect that clearing the DNS cache on my DNS/DHCP server might help but I am looking for advice at this point.

The general layout of our domain network is as such;

2 physical campuses each with their own 20mb fiber optic internet connection

Both campuses are protected by ASA5510 firewalls, each campus has an on-site DNS/DHCP server as well as a web filter server (Websense). On one campus...the servers all run Server 2003 while the other campus is running Server 2008 R2 on the domain controller and filter server.

The two campuses are currently linked with two T-1 lines that provide inter-site communication for file sharing and such. Eventually, these T-1 lines will be replaced with a site-to-site VPN portal set up through the ASA5510s on each respective campus. While this information may not be relevant...I figured I'd throw it in there anyway.

If anyone has any suggestions for other troubleshooting steps PLEASE let me know. I'm at a loss here and don't really know what else to do.

I'm attempting to set up a Websense filter server but discovered that a previous tech person decided it would be a good idea to uninstall .NET framework 3.5 from the server. In the process of trying to reinstall .NET framework...I used the .net cleanup tool to remove any residual data from the previous installation. I have successfully reinstalled .NET 1.1 and 1.1 sp1 but am running into an error stating that I must use server manager to install .NET framework 3.5.

I understand that .NET framework 2.0 and 3.0 is innately built into the Server 2008 R2 OS and can usually be accessed via the features menu in Server Manager.

In the server manager console, I am getting a repeating message saying that the console cannot refresh until the computer is restarted. This error prevents me from making any changes to the roles or features of the server as well as preventing the completion of .NET framework 3.5 SP1. I have restarted the server several times only to get the same issue. I did some research into the console refresh issue and discovered some references to updating Windows Update and/or reinstalling WUA 3.0. I downloaded and have been attempting to manually reinstall WUA 3.0 but get a "0x80070bc9" error message to that as well.

It's getting to the point that I'm not sure which issue to address first. Any guidance or input would be infinitely appreciated.

My company is having issues with returned mail that we send out to external domains.

A few weeks ago we replaced a firewall and changed ISP providers and began subsequently having issues RECEIVING emails from external sources because we hadn't updated our new IPs in the DNS records. After making the necessary configuration changes and setting up SMTP forwarding over port 25 to our mail server, everything was working fine up until a few days ago when we started having mail sent out returned to us. We aren't having any trouble communicating internally (to recipients on our domain) but it seems we're having trouble with outbound messages to web-based email recipients. (@hotmail, @live, @yahoo, @gmail...etc)

Currently we are running Server 2003 SP2 and exchange 2003. I'm very unfamiliar with configuring Exchange and could really use some help in narrowing down the possibilities. I did some research and am becoming suspicious of Sender ID being the culprit due to our recent IP address change and the likelihood that Sender ID is identifying us as a fake domain. Am I going in entirely the wrong direction? Any input or guidance would be infinitely appreciated.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached: [email protected] on 5/17/2012 3:02 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. Unfortunately, messages from xx.x.xx.x weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list.

I tried a reverse DNS lookup and found that we are set up as a Forward-confirmed reverse DNS. So do I just need to contact my ISP and have them correct their DNS records or is this something I can solve on our end??
