I am rather confused. One evening I had a server which had died. I went to reboot it and noticed it was stuck on the "GRUB" boot screen. I then noticed a hard drive had failed. I put a new hard drive in, booted into rescue mode and reinstalled grub.

The server booted, I then told mdadm to resync the new drive, and everything was good again.

Until, I noticed that the drive for some reason, had data which was 14days old, 26th Apr. So I had to restore a more recent backup to get the server up to date. However, this worries me is there, why did this happen?

I want apache to:

1. redirect http users to https
2. if they access http(s)://example.com/1234 redirect to /view/1234

I have tried different flavours but cannot get it work. When a user access the website, they get redirected to https://, however I cannot get the /{numeric} to redirect to add /view/. The numeric rule was working okay until I put the https redirect on.

I have tried it with RewriteCond %{HTTPS} = on, but this causes 500 errors.

This server was working fine when we took it out the rack, now it seems lifeless.

I have tried all the normal checks, booted off one cpu, changed memory.

When you put power to the board, it turns on it self. It will not turn off with the switch. The CPU fan will be on full speed and it does 3 long beeps. However on the 3rd beep it cuts short.

On the sys_sts LEDS, it is orange

I'm not sure what else to try.

I have a rather strange problem. We covered all the obvious hardware related issues (different nic, eth cable and switch) however I cannot seem to stop eth dropping packets.

I have 4 servers all exactly the same.

I have tried to load on the latest driver, 1.9.5. This did nothing.
I'm not sure what else to do.

I had this problem before.. I think a long time a ago I removed something from netdev.c to get it to work. But this is not right at all.. Why won't it compile?

Edit (14/06/12):

It is still causing serious issues. Lately, we have had very high through put on the box, this causes the complete server to just lock up. Only thing to do is, pull the power out and restart it. This is what I found the messages:

It also crashed last night, but it seemed log more out. By reading it, looks like transmit queue issue or some driver issues which casues a back log, ending up in a complete crash.

The only thing I can think of doing is installing this however. I am running Debian not Centos, so I cannot install the "mod-e1000e" driver. Any more insight into this would be great.
