When ever I run an Exchange 2010 SP1 Discovery Search I get the following error:
"Search failed as the results link to the target mailbox '[email protected]' couldn't be generated."
I am migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2010, I would like to setup co-existance and followed the instructions for setup on technet. OWA redirects without issue, the problem I have is with RPC/HTTPS. Exchange 2003 mailboxes and connect directly to the Exchange 2003 server using RPC/HTTPS and Exchange 2010 mailboxes can connect through the Exchange 2010 CAS with RPC/HTTPS. The problem is if I try to use the 2010 CAS to proxy the RPC/HTTPS connections to Exchange 2003, Outlook never connects.
My UCC cert is valid and contains the external name as well as the legacy.domain.com I have tried switch IIS security to basic as was suggested on the technet forums
If anyone has any ideas I could try please let me know. Or even if they could point me to the right log files to see where the connection is failing on the CAS.
We just had a custom app developed that pulls contact data from our CRM database and uses Exchange Web Services to create contacts in Exchange users contacts folder. The app is working great except all contacts that are also in the Exchange organization are getting their contact type created as 'EX' by EWS instead of 'SMTP'.
For example, the Exchange server is hosting addresses for the domain @abcd.com, any contact created that has a email address ending in @abcd.com is created with Email Address Type of EX.
This is causing a big issue as BES will not sync contacts with email address type set to EX to Blackberrys, it only syncs SMTP type.
Manually creating a contact in Outlook with the @abcd.com domain results in the email address type of SMTP.
Question: Is there a way through EWS to change the email address type to SMTP? Or is there a setting in Exchange 2010 that is somehow causing the type to be set to EX?
Since this is using EWS I know it might be better asked over on Stackoverflow but I was hoping the many Exchange Admins on SF one might be able to help me out.
Is Oracle 10g R1 supported on Windows Server 2003 R2? And if it isn't is it known to run without issue?
I am testing DPM 2010 with Exchange 2010. I am attempting to restore a single mailbox from a previous backup to a Recovery Database. I created and mounting the Recovery Database on the Exchange 2010 server and set the overwrite property. When I run the restore for the mailbox and point it to the recovery databse I get the following error.
The recovery jobs for Exchange Mailbox Database MailboxDatabase01 that started at with the destination of EXCHANGE2010.domain.com, have completed. Most or all jobs failed to recover the requested data. (ID 3111)
DPM encountered an error while performaing an operation for E:\DatabaseFiles\MailboxDatabase01.edb on EXCHANGE2010.domain.com (ID 2033 Details: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (0x80070020))
MailboxDatabase01 is one of our MDBs and not the RDB I setup for the recovery. I am confused why it is even trying to access this as I have triple checked that the recovery is pointed to the RDB.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
I am planning on adding a Windows Server 2008 R2 box as a second domain controller for a client running an SBS 2003 R2 domain and have two questions.
Are there any "gotchya's" involved in doing this, or do I just run ad and forest prep, promote the 2008 R2 box?
How would CALs work with this setup? Would I need SBS 2008 CALs, Server 2008 CALs or would the old SBS 2003 CALs cover this setup?
My thinking is I will only need Server 2008 CALs
I found out recently that a user with an Android phone is using TouchDown to sync with his Exchange 2003 account. What's the best way of blocking this?
Is it possible to setup PPTP VPN traffic (clients outside and server inside) to passthrough a Cisco ASA 5505 if the outside IP address is also being used for PAT?
The Cisco examples forward all NAT traffic from the outside to the inside VPN server. I only have one IP available currently and need PAT.
Question: Can I deploy BES and BES Express with Exchange 2010? Any tips for doing this if possible?
Background: We have a lot of users with personal BlackBerry's and we would like to allow them to start using their devices for receviing corporate email. We don't need full BES features for these users, just the ability to enforce passwords and remotely wipe. Plus users have never wanted to upgrade their data plans to the more expensive BES plans. So BES Express is a great fit.
We already have an existing BES, for corporate owned BB's. We want to keep this as is allows us to enforce several policies not available on BES Express.

I am looking for a software package that does continuous data backup of file shares on a single server. Backup location would be a NAS over a VPN tunnel. File Versioning is a must. Any recommendations? Thanks.
We have a new customer running SBS 2003 SP2 (standalone) whose AD not working. At first glance it looks like the cause is the fact that the AD integrated forward lookup zone is missing, so directory services won't start. Because Directory Services won't start I am unable to readd or restore the AD integrated zone.
Any suggestions on a fix?

I am looking for a free way of installing PowerChute for VMWare. The 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 Linux versions do not support VMWare ESX even though I think prior versions did.
APC is now charging $100 for the install CD which I think is a joke considering the price of our Symmetra UPS. VMWare support should be free.
Edit: I see someone voted this question to be closed, so to be clear i am looking for a free and legal way of getting PowerChute support for VMWare, by either using an older version or a custom script.
Will Veritas BackupExec 9.1 install (and work) on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64?
I know the Agent is supported but I need to install the Veritas Backupexec 9.1 for Windows Server.
I am hoping we can get a list together of usful/must use GPOs for Windows Admins.
Maybe explain how to set them up and why they are helpful?
I am getting the events 2027, 8231 and errors logged every few minutes on our exchange server. The errors is resulting from a missing file "proxygen.dll", I don't have another Exchange server to copy it from and FAX is not listed in the Exchange recipient policy.
The only reference to proxygen.dll I can find is in teh Exchange SDK, and I think it has to be compiled first.
Any idea how to fix this or where I can get the proxygen.dll?

Guess this is a unique issue...
We have several branch office with Windows Server 2003 R2 installed. I have read that if you install WDS (Windows Deployment Services) it will install SIS and allow you to run it on any partition excluding the boot partition.
My Question is:
Is anyone doing this in a production environment and if so has it caused any issues/problems?

Please note this is the only hardware I have available, we have a very tight budget and can't buy another server to host SQL so it has to stay virtualized.
Edit: Database is read intensive, very few writes. I think this helps the all RAID1 position
I cannot get WPA2 enterprise to work on my network. I will give you an overview of the current setup.
Windows Domain, using IAS and its own CA
Linksys WAP200 Access Point
I setup the AP to use WPA2-Enterprise Mixed using RADIUS I setup and registered IAS on the domain controller. I added the AP as a client with and have tried using both RADIUS Standard and Cisco as the RADIUS type.
I configured the IAS policy to grant access to Domain Computers, Authentication is set to PEAP and uses a private cert issued by our CA, the other profile settings are all default.
The client settings on the laptop match the IAS settings and the certificate is definately installed. WPA2 is supported as i can connect to WPA2 personal APs. I have tried multiple laptops.
During the connection it flashes that it "connected" for a second then goes to "Validating Identity" which it eventually timesout on. I am using the Windows Wireless Connection Manager.

We have purchased a new server to act as a MS SQL backend. I am curious to know what the best setup would be for it.
The server is a Dell R710 it has 6 hard drives 2x 74GB 15k and 4x 146GB 15k
This is currently setup in a RAID 1/Raid10 configuraton.
My question is where(which array) the following should go?

OS is already installed on the RAID1.
