I'm trying to setup passenger and nginx on Arch, but I can't seem to get the nginx server to even start.

I've followed the guide found here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nginx#Ruby_Integration_.28Ruby_on_Rails_and_Rack-based.29 under option A using the ruby gems to do the installation. I have nginx installed in the /opt/nginx/ directory.

I've symbolically linked /opt/nginx/sbin/nginx to /usr/bin/nginx and added the init script found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nginx/Init_script. I've also changed the permissions to 755 and it is owned by root as suggested.

I get the following error though when I run sudo /etc/rc.d/nginx start

/etc/rc.d/nginx: line 5: /etc/conf.d/nginx: No such file or directory

What does this mean?

I'm trying to setup nginx on Ubuntu 11.04. I have followed the roughly the directions found here: http://library.linode.com/frameworks/sinatra/debian-6-squeeze . I know it is for Debian, but I basically took those steps and then googled "How to do x in ubuntu 11.04" Although, I did pull the init scripts from their library.

The command: 'sudo lsof -i:80' returns nothing running on port 80.

How do I troubleshoot this or any ideas on what maybe going wrong?

I saw Nginx + uWSGI on a fresh Ubuntu install - bind error port 80 and tried restarting the computer and running it once and I get the same error. After running it once, I then ran the lsof command.

I have a large number of users and I know what their password is already. I also know what their profile path is. What is the best/most efficient way to add them all at once?

Is there a log somewhere that provides a log of what is going on and why all my roaming profiles are failing. I have it set so that the user is the owner and has full control but each time I log off I get: "Windows cannnot update roaming profile" error. I've looked in the users profile folder and there is nothing in there.

I am using the instructions found here: http://www.informit.com/guides/content.aspx?g=windowsserver&seqNum=61 on a windows 2008 machine. My question is in regard to this step:

2.From the left pane, navigate to User Configuration, Policies, Windows Settings, Folder Redirection.

I don't see how to do this. I am in the server manager and breaking down from the features expanding section. Is there a specific GPO editor that I need to be in to make these changes or can I do it from inside the server manager?

I'm trying to setup a software RAID on windows 2008 and I've found a number of guides on how to do it. Whenever I try to convert from Basic to Dynamic Disk the option isn't even available let alone grayed out. What would cause this? I'm looking for it by right clicking on the volume.

I want to setup roaming profiles for about 50 users. What is the best way to go about doing this? What are the best practices. I've read about desktops/my Documents being TOO big. How big is too big?

We have a few users who keep a lot of media on their machine to listen to throughout the day. I would imagine they have a few gigs of MP3's in their My Documents folder. How do you deal with this?

I want to start building, I believe a base GPO to lock down the machines that will be on the network. How do I go about doing this. The first thing I want to do is disable file and print sharing for each machine that joins the domain.

I have set up a domain and added a workstation to it. I'm trying to install VMware server and it says, "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". I tried running the setup as Administrator on the local machine, but this didn't work.

I think I need to all my username to install software using something like GPO or something of sort. I don't know how to even begin this process. Any tutorials or instructions? Is this really what is wrong?

I currently have about 50 different work stations, all running windows xp who are part of various workgroups. These machines were all setup by different people with no communication between them. I honestly, don't know what to expect when I dive in to them. I'm working on migrating them over to a Domain. I have the DC set up and it seems to be working well.

What do I need to do and in what order to make this all happen?

How do I lock down these machines ? Group Policy? Do you know of any good resources for wrapping my head around what Group Policy is?

Can switching from 50 machines using NETBIOS and workgroups to a domain make the network run faster or no?

I have remote desktop connection enabled. I've added my self and the Administrator account. When I try to login remotely I get:

When I try logging to remote desktop via localhost I get access denied error. The same occurs when I try remotely, except it says "username or password is not correct"

The terminal server is running, I checked this in services.

I am using the exact same username/password combo for both the local and remote logins. I can log on the physical machine just fine using the password/username combos.

Any ideas?

Here is what I did:

I right clicked on my computer and went to properties and then enabled remote desktop. I then added my self as a User allowed to connect to the server. It is running win2k3 Storage. Next I tried to login and couldn't, so I added Administrator and tried to login using that login and couldn't. Each time it says "This computer Can't Connect to the Remote server". Does that mean that if I find the right "That Computer" I can and it is a client problem?

Does anyone know a way to slipstream a hard disc controller driver into windows 2008 server?

It looks like to me the install hangs when it tries to find the hard-drives to partition. Up until that point it loads the disc to RAM and lets me go with a normal install.

I get the following error.

An Active Directory Domain Controller for This Domain Could Not be Contacted

and...

I have working Internet. I have an Active Directory domain controller set up on the same subnet, but I thought I would set this up before without having an Active Directory domain controller.

What things should be checked?

Perhaps, I'm missing some basic step in PXE booting, but I have TFTPD32 running and when the computer connects via PXE it seem to load fine and then nothing.

What file do I need to point to as my bootfile? Is it on the Windows 2008 CD or do I need to make it?

Also, I have my TFTP server pointed to the root of the CD-ROM is that correct as well?

My problem:

1. I have a DELL SC1425 that I can't get to boot windows 2008, because the boot CD does not support it. I need to be able to install windows 2008 on there.

2. Because I can't boot any OS that's not on the CD (Although Linux distros load fine), I need to do some sort of network boot.
