I have iis7 on a Windows server 2008 and iis url rewrite module 2 installed.

Any url rewrite rule (in my case a simple canonical domain name rule) causes the webapp to return an error 500.

In my case I have 4 domains mapped to the same web app and want to redirect 3 of the alternative domains to the main domain, after setting the rule any request to the webapp for those domains returns an error, the one domain of the web app that wasn't affected by the rule remains ok.

I did repair to the iis url rewrite module but the problem continues..

If I turn off the custom errors I see the problem is on my web app, however if don't have any rewrite/redirect rules I donit get any error. Probably the rewrite is messing with something in the pipeline..

Shouldn't the url rewrite/redirect end the processing of the request and submit the response??

I have an ASP.NET MVC webapp that has a public area and a member area with login using cookie + oauth, nothing fancy is just a regular webapp.

I want to publish a BETA version for testing but I don't want it to be publicly accessible, something like a Basic Authentication before entering the website would be enough. Cant do authentication by IP or domain because the testers will be anywhere.

Is there any way to activate this without interfering with the website login?

I am aware that I may configure a reverse proxy in front of IIS to handle the authenetication but I was looking for a simpler solution.

I have a .Net application on my IIS7 server it was working fine until I had to move it to another server.

I moved the exact same code to the new server and I noticed that after some hours the website stopped responding to remote requests but if I did remote desktop to the server it responded to the request done to localhost. If I stop the website and the application pool it started working fine again.

I was able to track the problem to hundreds of requests left in CLOSE_WAIT state to the http port that are never closed (I waited a few hours and they remain the same).

Any ideias?

I have a Windows Server 2003 that stops working randomly (displays image on monitor but is completely frozen), all I could found on the event log as causes were an error from atapi and a warning from msas2k3.

The event log entries are:
