I have an obsolete linux app-server running which I would like to migrate to a KVM virtual server with greater specifications.
I do not have physical access to the machine itself or its harddisks.
I only have access to the server across the network.
If it can be used for anything, I already have an empty spare HD installed in the server. This 2nd HD is about three times larger than then one where the data resides on.
Please ask for any other details you may need.
I am trying to test run Gluster with a volume consisting of two local bricks, the first being a plain directory and the second being a s3ql based mount.
Having just the plain directory as a unique brick works fine.
Having just the s3ql mount as a brick does not work:

Having both bricks added only the space of the first brick is showed as available, plus nothing can be written or read from the volume.
I am not sure if it does not work because Gluster is trying to re-mount (mount an existing non-local mount) the s3ql mount or because Gluster does not see the s3ql mount as a "real" directory even though it should.
Any hints?
How to leave promiscuous mode in dnscap?
dnscap -a makes no difference.
I have a very specific need of allowing access to an unknown set of domains where they all have a common domain as referral.
Put the other way around I have a website including items (js, images, css, etc) from an unknown set of domains which I need to allow access through to.
I know referrals are set client side and can be edited. This is not a concern in this case as the users are already authenticated via credentials and logged.
Is allowing access based on referral possible in Squid?
I am trying to get DNRD to serve certain records from the master file in a round robin manner.
I have tried several combinations e.g.:

2.2.2.2 hostnameA
1.1.1.1 2.2.2.2 hostnameA

Still nothing works. It is not stated in the man pages whether this is even possible or not and I can not find any other examples online.

A simple question about Amazon (AWS) S3 storage. Is there any other way to upload data to S3 apart from the web console interface?

I have a production server that in the last 24 hours has been hard rebooted 4 times due to freezes. Ping is fine but all other services time-out (Apache, SSHd, etc). I have now diagnosed it to Apache running out of memory due to an exorbitant amount of child processes forking suddenly within seconds of starting Apache. Stopping Apache just after rebooting keeps the server stable again.
My two questions are:
Is there a way to detect which of the vhosts is being suddenly hammered without looking into each vhost's access log one by one?
Is there a way to quickly enable/disable vhosts without commenting (#) them all out in httpd.conf?

Some months ago I was working with Squid 3.0 and managed to get rid of the X-Forwarded-For header completely. Now I am trying to do the same thing but I do not seem to hit the nail.
I have tried forwarded_for off but that does not remove the header, it just inserts unknown in place of the client IP.
I tried header_access X-Forwarded-For deny all but I receive an error about invalid directive. Looking in the function reference it seems that this directive is deprecated in 3.0.
I tried forwarded_for delete but this is only available from 3.1.
Any suggestions?

Wildcard SSL certificate for *.example.com installed on two different boxes.

I assume this is a perfectly valid scenario, where the actual hostnames do not reside on the same IP (or even the same box for that sake).
Is my assumption correct?
When renting a dedicated server, how can one be certain than he/she is not getting a VPS or some other virtual machine variant instead of a true dedicated hardware box?
Which checks can be run (assuming it is a linux box) to detect such case?

Due to a needed feature I upgraded from Squid 3.0 to Squid 3.1 and now proxychains does not seem to work anymore with Squid. proxychains still works fine with any other application.
With 3.0 I start Squid like this:
# proxychains squid -X -N
and all Squid's traffic is sent out through proxychains pre-defined proxy list.
With Squid 3.1 this does not work and all traffic is routed as normal (as if proxychains was not being invoked). The normal proxychains connections log is neither displayed showing that proxychains does not seem to receive any requests at all from Squid to forward its traffic.
Going through the release notes of 3.1, I do not see anything specific that would stop proxychains working with it.
I am working on a first time C# project in Visual Studio 2005 and I am wondering if there is anything special that needs doing to change the application icon apart from changing the correct resource in the project properties.
I manage to view the new icon displayed in Explorer, but the icon in the application, the tray, and the task bar stays as the old icon.
I am wondering if this has anything to do with Windows Vista perhaps caching the applications icon and from then on not really refreshing it. The same happens in Explorer if you have thumbnails turned on.
If it does indeed cache the icon, what can I do to update/delete the cache, and also what is it based on (GUID perhaps? Not file name though as I changed that and still the same).

Anyone knows if it is possible to setup port forwarding with a telnet client, like it is with SSH?
Is there any way to restrict a VPN client to only route certain traffic via the VPN and the rest via their local gateway?
For example: traffic to a certain IP or domain gets routed across the VPN and all other requests do not.
