I have a domain called domain.com (already working and in production) and that domain is already using ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com as nameservers.

Now I have created new Authoritative DNS server (ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com) and I want to migrate the domain.com to it. So that NS for domain.com will become ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com

Now, the issue here is there is no glue record created for ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com.

Does creating the glue record for ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com will disturb the existing domain.com DNS service? ( for which the current NS are ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com)

I recently updated CAA records for my domain. But when I do check the zone using the command

named-checkzone <domain.com> <domain.com>

I get the error,

domain.com:43: unknown RR type 'CAA'
domain.com:44: unknown RR type 'CAA'
zone domain.com/IN: loading from master file domain.com failed: unknown class/type
zone domain.com/IN: not loaded due to errors.

named-checkzone -v
9.9.2-P1

CentOS release 5.3

What can be done to eradicate the error?

I'm trying to join my CentOS 7,64 bit server to an AD DC and I'm using the following command:

# net ads join -U <username> -S <target server>
Enter <username's> password:

But after long time, I get

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain <name>

I'm not sure whats the issue. But I have another server of same specs connected to this AD DC successfully.

I guess it could be the network issue, because from the another server ( which is already joined ) I am able to telnet to port 389 and 53 of AD DC. But from this server I cannot telnet those ports of AD DC server but just ping.

So is this issue due to network ( port block ) or something else? I assure that both server has similar config files.

I'm trying to use unbound to forward DNS queries to other recursive DNS server. My unbound.conf looks like:

forward-zone:
name: "."
forward-addr:x.x.x.x
forward-addr:x.x.x.x
forward-addr:x.x.x.x

But when I use the command

#  unbound-control lookup google.com
The following name servers are used for lookup of google.com.
forwarding request:
Delegation with 0 names, of which 0 can be examined to query further addresses.
It provides 3 IP addresses.
x.x.x.x not in infra cache.
x.x.x.x not in infra cache.
x.x.x.x not in infra cache.

How to make unbound forward the DNS query to another recursive server that is defined in forward zone?

The scenario is I need to migrate mailboxes from a qmail server to exchange server. I can use imapsync for that. But the issue is after the DNS change (i.e when DNS changed from old qmail server to new exchange server), there could be some mails in source server too.. So I would like to migrate only those new mails which is in old qmail server to new exchange server.

I heard imapsync can be used incrementally but I couldn't get the documents in the web for that.

So how to perform the migration in this scenario and can imapsync be used in this scenario? Or do you suggest any other tool for this?

I have installed RTIR with RT v 3.8.4. I have also Nagios installed for monitoring a number of our servers. Now, in the download website of RTIR (http://www.bestpractical.com/rtir/features.html), it says

"We've already built integrations with ArcSight, Nagios, and other software"

But I couldn't find any documents on it. Even I found some Nagios plugin which sends alert to RTIR, but I'm not sure whether it will properly fill all the fields of RTIR incident report like IP address of the affected server or not. So I would like a detailed explanation on this or may be a good documentation link will help.

I have script for finding files of certain type and compress them to a single tar archive and put in to other place. But now, there is a change in requirement, that I need to find files of certain type, list it and compress each of them to a tar archive and put it to other place. Currently I'm using the script

cd /to/top/of/dir/structure
tar -cf /path/to/tarfile.tar --files-from /dev/null # trick to create empty tar file
find . -type f ! -name '*.log' -print0 | xargs -0 tar -uvf /path/to/tarfile.tar

So, the above script find certain file type and then archive it as single tar file and then place it to another location. But my question is, I need to find files of certain type, list them, tar each of the listed files and put them into other location.

I have a single organizational unit in AD server for the purpose of integrating many desktop PC's. Now, I have installed Request tracker v 4.0.8 and integrated it with AD server. Now the issue is, I don't want to authenticate all the user who are in the AD server to RT server. I would like only some of them to authenticate to RT server. Condition is, I don't want to create a new organizational unit. I don't want to create separate user for RT within AD server. I would just like to use the single user name for both desktop integration and for RT purpose. How to achieve this?

I have installed Request tracker v 4.0.8 and recently I have integrated it with Active Directory 2008 using the link: How to integrate request tracker 4.0.8 with active directory 2008 server

and it works. But I have encountered with one strange issue. When I login to the RT using the AD username and pass, it logs in and works fine. But then after I delete that AD user in the AD server, that user is still able to login to the RT until I restart the apache in RT server. I think Apache is caching the AD user. That is why a deleted AD user can still login to the RT server until I restart Apache in RT server. How to resolve this?

But unable to get it working. The RT weblogin doesn't even check for the AD server. I can't find any logs regarding to it. I have already seen a question here in serverfault regarding active directory and Rt, but it was for old version and I'm using a new version.

When a new ticket is created, I can see that in RT. But then if a new reply or correspondence comes to that ticket, it is not getting highlighted (but I can see the new correspondence in the ticket). Any solution?

I'm using msmtp for outgoing email. msmtp works in command line and I get email. But when a ticket is created in RT, it doesn't send mail.

What is the error returned 74?

How to check the LDAP connection from a client to server. I'm working on the LDAP authentication and this client desktop needs to authenticate via a LDAP server. I can SSH to the LDAP server using LDAP user but When in desktop login prompt, I can't login. It says Authentication failure.

Client machine has Cent OS 6.3 and LDAP server has Cent OS 5.5

LDAP software is Openldap.

LDAP servers logs doesn't even show any messages.

So, how to test whether the client can successfully connect to LDAP or not.
