Due to an infrastructure limitation, one of the proposed solutions for serving an HTTP service to the world is to offer it over ports 8080 and 8443.
My concern is that some users may not be able to access these services because they are not running on standard ports, and the content might be filtered by (for instance) as part of the corporate network policy.
So... how likely is it that a user from the internet at large might not be able to access these services?
I need to take an image of a drive. I'm working from a bootable CD, so I have the option to decruft before taking the image. The Windows installation on the drive has both hyberfil.sys and pagefile.sys which I would rather not include in the image. If I delete these from the drive, will Windows recreate these files if necessary?

I've written an app that compresses then sends backup files to a remote destination via SFTP. It is written in .net4/C#.
I'd like to make an entry in the Windows scheduler to run this app at x o'clock every day.
I would like advice concerning how best to set up this schedule (especially with regards to the account that it runs under). The scheduler allows the scheduled task to be run under any user/group, right? So, if I'm not mistaken, I need to set up a really locked down account for it to run under and pass the credentials to the scheduler.
Ideally, I would like it to run in an environment where it has only got read/write access to the folder that requires backing up, and access to the network. I'd like everything else locked down. How might I go about setting up the schedule/user account to accomplish this?
I'm currently using COPSSH to tunnel various connections to a remote Windows box and connecting using plink.exe from the PUTTY suite. After connecting directly, I've come to realise that the quality of connection using this setup is appalling. Tunnelled connections appear to get slower and slower. Can anyone recommend secure tunnel software that is more performant than my current setup?

In a small office I have two Windows Server 2008 boxes connected to a 100mbps router, which is fine for day to day running. I'm looking to migrate SQL server off one of the boxes onto the other, and, given their close proximity, I have joined them via a second 1gbps NIC on each using a crossed ethernet cable with fixed IP addresses on a different subnet. Now they are visible to each other over 2 distinct networks.
When I resolve the machine running SQL Server (using NetBIOS) from the other and vice-versa, I would like this faster connection to be used. How can I tell if this is happening, and if it isn't, how do I make it so?
