Is there any server OS usage index (like tiobe index for programming languages)? I haven't found anything better than google trends
Alex Bolotov's questions
I'm looking for a way to run HP-UX (for educational purposes), but I don't have HP hardware right now.
These options are not very suitable for me:
- HP TestDrive program - Looks like it was discontinued 2 years ago.
- Ski - looks like only CPU emulator. Is it worth trying?
- HPPAQEMU - Patch for old Qemu for HPPA-Linux guest-OS only. Is it worth trying?
- hp-ux Aires - I don't need to visualize HP-PA on HP-Itanium. That question is about using HP-UX without HP hardware.
A year ago I was working as a system integrator at TTI Telecom and now I'm (self-|un)employed and don't want to look for job right now because of institute graduation. TTI and some other companies with offices in my city use HP-UX. So better knowledge of HP-UX could be a very useful skill if I decide to work there.
I want to install some package with not very useful dependencies (for example I want xorg-x11 without any xterm, xclock etc) and when I try to put dependencies in package.mask portage just complains about masked packages instead of ignoring them.
I think I had a solution for this but I'm forgetting it every time.
Where can get depot (or just precompilled package) with Python 3.* or at least 2.6.* for ia64-hp-hpux11* ?
Packages for hppa64-hp-hpux11* (PA-RISC) can be found at ActiveState but not for Itanium.
I can't compile it by myself because of different HP-UX and ANSI-C related problems.
Somesimes I must work with remote host which have telnet connection but no either ftp or ssh (to use scp) also there are no netcat. Also there are no gcc (to compile netcat for example).
Does anybody know how to transfer file(s) using telnet connection (using some kind of hack)?
(I know that it's not very appropriate protocol for souch a things.)
What if I really need OpenBSD to be installed on 2 slices (on virtual machine and not for production purposes):
- /
- swap
instead of 6:
- /
- swap
- /tmp
- /var
- /usr
- /home
I suppose that I must create all that folders on root fs but how can I do that during installation?
