I have a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with hardware Raid - two drives in Raid 1, four drives in Raid 5. Originally, all six drives were the same size, but a while back I upgraded the Raid 5 array and kept the original drives as spares for the Raid 1 array. One of the Raid 1 drives has now failed, and I want to use the spare that I kept that used to be part of the Raid 5 array. Can I just insert the spare drive into the slot the failed drive came out of -- will the system accept it as a new replacement in the Raid 1 array, or will it be confused by the old data that's already on it?
Randy Orrison's questions
I have 20 PCs (Windows XP) in remote locations connecting to the same server (Windows Server 2003) using Remote Desktop over a VPN. On just one of the PCs the remote desktop screen flashes (redraws) multiple times after connecting, the others don't. The screen resolution is the same: local is 800x600 32bit; RDP file is set to full screen, 256 color; remote when connected is 800x600 8bit color.
Any suggestions what the problem might be, or what to investigate next?
Is it possible to use PowerShell to change local user settings on Windows XP (without Active Directory), specifically the settings on the user properties tab - such as "Password never expires" and groups that the user is a member of?
Samples would be great, but a pointer to the relevant documentation would be great too - I'm not even sure what to look for.
