I'm struggling with a Dynamics CRM 2011 , when trying to import an existing organization - coming from a customer's Window Domain, not ours.

The Setup

Two servers.

• One windows server 2008 r2 x64 Standard (locale fr-FR) for the Front-end, WebApp and all
• One Windows server 2008 r2 x64 Enterprise (locale fr-FR) with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition (locale fr-FR) for the Data and Report Tier

The imported organization came from an install with both Data Tier and App Tier on the same Windows 2008 Server (locale en-US)

The Web tier is at v5.0.9688.1045 , the Data Tier is at v.5.0.9688.1155 ( Update Rollup 2 )

The Error

The Database is recognized as a Dynamic CRM database, the users mapping proceeds, and the import process does most of the work. Most of because it seems to fail at the last moment.

What I already tried to do - but didn't work

• Googling for the solution.
• Deactivating and deleting the starter database.
• Mapping the foreign domain AD users on completely new local domain AD user.

EDIT 1 : Added locale info, and corrected some inexact setup info

Following : Installing Team Foundation Server on a shared database instance

We did use a shared database instance setup for TFS 2005, and that was not a good idea, because of the Reporting Service dependency. The reporting instance on the server gives error code 404.

What works now

• Basic source code control. We're able to check in and out source code.

What doesn't work :

Everything else, including :

• Opening and creating new team projects.
• Build automation.
• Internal bug tracking.

Goal setup

• Having a fully working TFS install, and keeping the history.
  1) A full install of TFS 2005 on the same server, but within its own database and reporting instance.
  2) Using another server might be an option, but it's really not prefered

• Downtime should be minimum, my colleagues needs to be able to work on the source

Readings

I've read the MSDN page about moving/restoring TFS 2005, but I'm still unsure about what to do.

Would you use a database instance used for development work to store TFS Data Layer ? If that's not the case, what kind of separation would you use ?

Setup : we have ONE server for all common dev work. Due to physical constraints, we can't add anymore.

Symptoms : our mail server, a dedicated Fedora server with zimbra, stopped working, in such a way we couldn't even log in with SSH. Soft reboots, through our web admin console, did make it work again, for 6-8 hours, and came crashing down. Putting Zimbra services and the whole server on autorestart didn't help.

These symptoms lasted during a couple of months. Now the machine came back working mostly correctly.

The only suspicious thing I found is that during these faults, the server wasn't able to find a route to himself, but our DNS was still up and able to find these names. Googling for similar symptoms provided little help, and our ISP was even less friendly.

The thing is I have little clue where to begin my search for the causes of these breakdowns, in order to prevent them. Where should I start ?
