I am looking to add redundancy to our DFS shares and want to utilize a new iSCSI SAN array in the process. I am thinking of having two servers (one virtual, one physical - sitting on different hosts) connected to a common SAN LUN, both providing DFS access.

If I am not mistaken, DFS was created to facilitate replication between two different storage arrays but share a common name space, so will DFS work in the scenario above since in theory it would be trying to replicate to a shared common storage array? What would be some alternatives?

So since IIS only allows me to install applications (in this instance, wordpress) as containers under the parent of a Web Site, I need to redirect all the root URL requests sent to my domain, to the application's container.

Example: Request to www.mywebsite.com should go to the application wordpress.

IIS Tree Looks as such:

Mywebsite (IIS web site)
-- wordpress (Application)

Is there a way to do this that is transparent to the user? I don't want to transform the URL into www.mywebsite.com/wordpress - I want it to remain www.mywebsite.com.

When a user hits www.mywebsite.com it should not transform the url in the user's browser - but the user should be hitting the wordpress application in IIS,=.

Another way to put this may be better stated as - is there a way to setup a web binding for an application specifically?

I have tried using HTTP Redirect and URL Rewrite but have been unsucessful in getting the results I desire.

(This is on a Win Server 2008R2 box with IIS7.5)

SCVMM is failing to add a Host with an error saying:

VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent hostservername.domain.local (name changed to protect innocent) was lost. (Unknown errror (0x80338126))

Host machine: Server 2008R2 Std - Only role is Hyper-V

SCVMM Machine: Server 2008R2 Std - Roles include: IIS, WSUS, File Server.

Domain: Windows Server 2003 functional level. Domain controller is a Small Business Server 2003 SP2 DC.

WinRM is configured on both servers and winrm id -r:servername commands successfuly return details between both machines. Server's can be remotely administered by use of Server Manager from a third machine. Operating System: Windows Server 2008

Debugview Trace output has the following line of interest:

Any help gladly appreciated :-) I've reinstalled SCVMM w/ factory defaults, reenabled WinRM on both boxes, and disabled Windows Firewalls, everything I can think of.

I have a small network with about 10 Cisco 7900 phones being run by a Cisco UC520 16user Router (info here). I am looking to move to a Hosted VOIP solution and would like to reuse my 7900 Series phones with the hosted voip provider. How can I go about disabling callmanager express and unity express from within the UC520 router so that It only functions as a data router?

Is this a simple configuration change? Or will I need to replace the router with a standard data router?

I'm researching deploying Hyper-V Server R2 (the stand alone product - not the Server 2008 role) into our environment and was curious how the domain joining process would work if the domain controller resided on a guest OS on the Hyper-V box itself?

Is this supported? Or does the domain controller that the Hyper-V box connects to have to be on another physical server box?
