The server is Dell PowerEdge T11 II PERC S100 Virtual Disk Management (Build: 2.0.0-0162)

Disk 0 is set too Offline and gives message

NOT SELECTABLE: Read error:

There is small sound coming from the disk when I try to rescan and in post bios, it sound like the read head is doing the same thing over and over. So looks and sound to me that the disk is fubar?

This is set up as RAID5 so I did think it should boot with only 1 disk gone. This is the first time i have been inside PERC S100 so im not sure why disk 1 says online and disk 2 says ready?

I don't understand why Disk 2 is in ready mode or even what ready mode is atm, but for a raid 5 930GB all 3 disk should be in the raid.

Have anyone and tips on how to proceed without doing more wrong then good here?

OP: ESXi 5.5 just updated from 5.1 to try and fix the crashes occurring on ESXi 5.1 on same hardware.

I'm trying to find the error on why one of our servers is crashing, it has had two lock ups in 24 hours now. The internal error light on the front is blinking red, on the inside only "#5 and #6 page 76 manual" the "Processor 2" light "amber" and the "Power" light "green" is shining.

in the logs the only errors i can see in the relevant time frame is in log under. Is this the reason? or is there anything else i can do to try and log/locate the error.

Update

Setting up iLO 2 and geting access to the logs did show som progress, i was getting lots of Power removed messages. So i startesd to suspect the power, and after removing the UPS the server has been stable now for 5 days.

the iLO interface stays up after this happens. the IML log in Empty does not show anything

Im connecting to a remote dns server trough a APS.NET app. if i use the default admin account it works fine but when trying to use a other admin account named DNS i get.

I'm looking for a lightweight solution to monitor diskspace on windows servers and sent the report to a monitor server that presents the data in a nice gui. The server software can be linux or windows. But all the servers beeing monitored is windows.

i want to grab the the text between tok98 and 5678 and dump that out to a file.

if the tok98 and the 5678 was on the same line i can use this

sed -n 's/.*\(tok98\)\(.*\)\(5678\).*/\2/p' testfile.txt > text.dmp

but when the tokens are vertically spaced its not working, how can i rewrite this sed to work here

If I have a log file and want to dump only the text between 1234 and 9876 in to another file, how can i do this easily?

If I have a text file like this:

I get “signal out of range” displayed on screen after boot up from fresh Ubuntu installation, if flashes grup in corner for half a sec then it goes to “No Input Signal”, anyone got a clue how to get the grub to load in diffrent resolution with out have access to the file system?

if not i guess my only option is to boot from the cd and edit som files to get grub to load in diffrent resolution?

as it is now i cant get access to grub menu, and i cant get access to login screen, all will give me “No Input Signal”, anyone worked around this?

Im want to send traffic over to Host B on port 3000, i have access to all nodes in this drawing, the only port that is open between these two lans is port 80 from Linux Box B to Linux box A.

so i do a "ssh -R 1206:192.168.1.10:22 [email protected] -p 80", and ssh back trough the tunnel with "ssh -L 3000:10.10.10.10:3000 disp@localhost -1206"

if im correct this now listens to port 3000 on the Linux Box A and sends it to Linux Box B trough the tunnel to port 3000? are my logic correct?

how can i now route this traffic over to port 3000 on host B.

and if i want t two way connection "From B to A" how can this be done?

im running these two rules as root, but when doing a iptables -L it dosent show any rules, any one have an idea of what the problem can be?

Im creating a script that i am executing every night at 03.00 that will kill all screens that has been running longer than 3 weeks.

anyone done anything similar that can help? If you got a script or suggestion to a better method please help by posting :)

I was thinking maybe somthing like this.

First do a dump to textfile

ps -U username -ef | grep SCREEN >> dump.txt

then do a loop running through all lines of dump.txt with a regex and putting pid of the prosseses with STIME > 3weeksago in a array.

then do a kill loop on the array result.

Every thing works ok localy, but having som issues connecting remotely, the user is granted remote access ao it shold be ok.

the nmap show its listening on the port? its closed but is that because it waits for a connection?

i have a small logging tool on my linux box that need to be restart once every 20-30 minutes because the log node shuts down the session every once in a while.

how wold you go about creating a script to make a sw restart like that.

the command for starting the tool wold be somthing like this

root@25-3b-1d-46-3f-13:/home/#logdrift -f 10.15.12.10 test.log

when it restarts it needs to add a number to the test.log file name like, test1.log
