It looks like we have two certificates. Am I reading that right? Does the SSL service (CloudFlare.com) that's using the certificate point to a particular Certificate?
How can I redirect a subdomain to a folder using IIS7.5 remotely managing our website?
So:
sub.MyDomain.com would resolve to MyDomain.com/folder
I've tried using URL Rewrite but it's not seeming to have any effect. I didn't read anything about there needing to be DNS propagation (seems like that's not necessary).
Do I perhaps need to somehow set the DNS records know that IIS is handling that subdomain?
FYI, here are the settings I used:
If the Pattern is for a subdomain that I've created a CNAME DNS record for (pointing to the main domain: www.BungalowSoftware.com) then I get a 403 Forbidden result (so its hitting the server @ web.com) If the subdomain does NOT exist in the DNS (CNAME) then I get "not found".
Chkdsk is a very manual, technical solution
Hard Drive checking in Windows reports a lot of unnecessary info, requiring that you read through it the chkdsk report, etc. Also chkdsk can't fix problems on an in-use files (like the Windows drive). It seems like a little thing, but a non-technical user can't understand ChkDsk results and it takes even a technical user a minute to read through the report for each hard drive.
Even if I automated Chkdsk with the /x and /f options, I still have to read the report every day.

I'm setting up Email Authentication on our domain to allow authentication with our Email Service Provider.
My understanding is that the DNS record needs to have any ; escaped, e.g., \;
I just want to make sure that ALL ; should be escaped. To that end, I want to make sure I understand why the escaping is needed. I.e., if it's b/c ; means something special then how do I know when it should not be escaped, and instead it should have it's special meaning? or is that that is has a special (and different) meaning in DNS TXT records, in general, and that for the special use of a DKIM setting, we do not want it to have that special meaning (and perhaps whoever reads the record will apply the value)
Also, the ESP is telling me that the DNS is "adding \ for some reason" (waiting to confirm whether they just don't understand it.

I have domains purchased through Godaddy and the site hosted through Web.com.
I'm trying to decide whether which company's Name Servers to use. It's simpler to use Godaddy's BUT they provide only two, whereas WEb.com provides three. (Obviously it's more complicated than that: is there a simple point of failure, response time, etc.)
So I'm wondering specifically how to evaluate the quality of the domain name servers for each (response time, uptime, etc.)

My experience is that using .htAccess to password protect a directory, it brings up a modal dialog box. And for some browsers (FF and Chrome) don't show the checkbox for "remember" this password.
Is there a way to that a password protect a directory and have the user fill in the username and password within the web page?
Or, is there a way to force the browser to remember that password?
I have limited space on my C: drive and lots on my V: drive. I'd like to move the VMware Player's virtual HD files (and any large supporting files) to my V: drive.
Any pointers to how I do that?
(I'm afraid to just move the file. Tried that once w/ Virtual PC and it was a mess because the program was expecting it to be in the old location.)

The Windows 7 firewall seems to just give permission or not give persmission to apps.
Is there a way to have it ask for permission for each program (ideally with an option for allow [don't ask again]).
This has been a standard feature of 3rd party firewalls like Zone Alarm for 10 years now.
I installed SQL Server Express but may have have done so setting it in "windows authentication" mode.
It took forever to install. Is there a way to switch it to "mixed mode" (or even verify whether it's in Mixed Mode)?
I've read that Windows 7 has some power saving features and have even heard claims of a 1 year Return on Investment in power savings.
However, all I found was reference to saving .5W by disabling the network adapter if it's disconnected, and reducing power to audio devices (if none are in use). I can't see this latter one having much effect since the bulk of my audio power is the external speakers and even if they are off, the transformer would be consuming power (I think) and certainly consuming power if on even at the lowest volume setting. (I.e., to save significant power on the audio you'd have to physically turn off the speakers and maybe unplug them.
Is it MicroHype? If not, how much power can Win 7 save on a desktop PC?
We're replacing an old computer here in the office and I'm trying to decide if Windows 7 is a good option. I know it's faster than Windows Vista but is it faster than Windows XP.

I've never been clear on what one is sacrificing by getting a cheaper Celeron instead of Pentium Intel CPU. I assume you can't simply compare processing speed.

Integrated L2 cache resulted in considerably improved performance across virtually all applications. I have an external USB hard drive (for backups) on our server. I's shared as "T". Other computer backup to \server\T.
I'd like to also refer to that drive locally as \server\T rather than (say D:) because the drive letter changes when I rotate USB drives.
Is there a performance penalty to referring to it by it's UNC name? (I.e., as if Windows XP were actually going out on the network to get to the drive.)
I've got a Win XP Pro machine that we're using as a Server. It's mostly used during the day (and early evening for backups) but can be on for days at a time.
To reduce power consumption and extend the HD life, I'm setting the HD to automatically turn off after X hours. I've read that there is a "cost" (in power and wear & tear on the HD) of spinning up the HD.
So I'm wondering how long I should set that pause for .
I guess one way to look at it is Return on Investment (ROI) : If I turn off the disk how long does it need to be off to break even on the spin up cost (in wear and tear and power)?
We have a small peer-to-peer network with all Windows XP computers.
One computer is designated as a Server and has shared several folders. (And it's set to share again automatically on restart, which it does. Other computers on the network hvae a local drive (s:) mapped to that Server.
Other computers on the network have programs which execute from (i.e., the .exe is located on) those Server\ShraedFolders. However, after a fresh restart those apps don't run. If I manuall browse to the S: drive on the local computer then I can see the Server files. After that I can then start the program(s) that are located on the S:\drive.
These computers are all Windows XP SP2
