I have 6 1tb drives in a RAID5. 1 drive went down. On the RAID was 2 virtual machines that I really need back up and running. The spare drive I have to put in the server is a 1.5tb drive, which exceeds the physical per drive limit of the 2020SA. The drive is found in the disk utility, but it is not found in the array management section. I cannot add the drive to the array to have it rebuild.

I have a replacement drive along with some spares on their way from Newegg, but I am still looking at a few days of downtime. Is it possible to use the 5 working drives to get the VMs copied off and on to another server or do I just have to wait for the drives to get here?

I have a domain that uses my host's nameservers, however there is no specific virtual host created for it. When I go to the domain, I get page not found. If I change my hosts file to have the domain point to the IP of the first nameserver or if I set up an DNS entry for www to be the IP, it works like I want it to.

According to the access and error logs, it doesn't even look like the request makes it to Apache. Is there anything else I have to configure other than just the nameserver for the doamin to get this to work? Pinging the domain brings up host not found, but pinging a domain that has a virtual host section comes up as the IP of the nameserver. What am I missing?

I have a VPS that had Apache. Later Tomcat was installed with the cPanel EasyApache thing. JSPs will work as Mysite.com/file.jsp or mysite.com:8080/file.jsp. However, JForum uses web.XML to map some servlets to URLs. Without the port 8080 in the URL, I get file not found. Is there any way to get the servlets to map on port 80 like the JSPs without killing Apache?

I have a Zebra label printer connected to a Linux Mint virtual machine. It was set up with CUPS and a Windows XP computer can then print to it via http://192.168.1.76:632/printers/labelprinter. That was all fine and dandy

I then hooked up a Fargo Pro L PVC card printer to a Windows XP virtual machine. I had to disconnect the label printer as the server that hosted both virtual machines only has 1 parallel port. Now I plugged in the Zebra again, and it cannot print from the Windows XP computer anymore. If I go to the CUPS admin panel on the Windows XP computer, I can see it, everything looks fine, and I can send it a test page to print which works. If I try to print from Windows, I get an error that the printer is not found/cannot connect to the server.

The only other thing that changed was the firewall on the router to allow remote desktop to another computer from outside the network, but all the firewall stuff was for external use. Nothing affected the IP address of the internal network. The Linux Mint VM also had a PDF pritner that was shared with CUPS. That printer is also down. I tried setting up a new CUPS installation on another VM, and when I go to share it with XP, I get the same error.

I don't know what to try. It has access, it can get to the admin from that computer, it seems to be up and ready, but when Windows tries to connect, the printer isn't found even though 4 days ago everything was fine.

Any ideas?

I have a site running on IIS with a dyndns.org domain that points to the IP of the Windows 2008 machine hosting it. I need a copy of that site for development purposes. I set up another folder with all the files, and create a new site in IIS. I don't really have a domain for it, so I was just going to use the IP address. When I go to localhost, 127.0.0.1, or the internal IP, I get bad hostname. If I use the IP address on port 80 (the same as the real version of the site), I get 404 not found. If I use a different port so I don't have them both on the same IP with the same port, I get connection timed out. How do I go about setting this up?

If I have a server running Apache, and I install FastCGI, would that let me run Ruby and Python scripts? If Python is already installed on the server, wouldn't I just be able to add .py to the CGI section in the httpd.conf file to have Python scripts working?

For Ruby and Java, does it eliminate the need for Mongrel and Tomcat if Ruby and Java are installed?

Unless I am missing something, it seems like FastCGI only lets you do what you can already do.

I have computer with a host of DumbServer. When I try to connect to http://DumbServer or use DumbServer in Putty, it doesn't work. If I use the IP address, everything is fine. How do I set it up so that DumbServer works without having to add the entry into the hosts file for every computer?

If I have 3 domains, domain1.com, domain2.com, and domain3.com, is it possible to set up a default virtual host to domains not listed? For example, if I would have:

If you register a domain and point it to my server, it would default to everythingelse showing the same as domain3. Is that possible?

I have several development servers (various web servers, SVN server, ect) all on our network. One developer will work remotely. I don't really want to make everything public accessible. If I set up a VPN server and let make that publicly accessible, once connected, is everything available that would be available on our network? I thought that was the point of a VPN, but some things I read said there were problems because the IP is only masked at being from 192.168.X.X and not really being that address. If someone was connected to the VPN and a server was at 192.168.123.321, can someone get to it with that IP address?

I recently purchased a TurboSSL from GoDaddy. In Firefox, the address bar goes blue for a second, but then goes back to white. Is that because some images are coming from http:// and not https:// or is GoDaddy not supported with Firefox to actually be blue?

If GoDaddy doesn't work, what SSL providers have certs that will turn blue (preferably a cheap one)?

My other option would be the $150 Startcom EV cert to get the address bar green.
