I've got two Apache webservers that serve thousands of files per second. I want to compare the two webservers to determine who is actually faster in terms of who can serve more files/s.
mod_status with ExtendedStatus On would exactly do this job, but it slows down the machine too much. Needless to say that there are no access logs as well.
What would be an easy way to determine the number of files/requests the apaches are serving?
Which Linux filesystem would you choose for best speed in the following scenario:
Note: The files are stored in a deep hierarchical tree to avoid large directories. Each leaf directory contains around one thousand files.
How would you benchmark it?
I'm using SSHFS mounts from my laptop to a central server.
Obviously, the SSHFS mount is broken after a longer disconnect (eg. during suspend), cause the underlying SSH connection timed out.
Is there a way to get SSHFS mounts surviving long lasting disconnections (> 5 min) or even a re-dialin with a different IP?
