On Digital Ocean I'm able to connect to Postgresql:

psql -d my_db -U my_name

for which it asks me a password and I get in successfully. But from my local computer I'm unable:

psql -d my_db -U my_name -h x.x.x.x

Nothing happens at all. Here's my /etc/postgresql/9.4/main/pg_hba.conf

On a server I'm able to connect to Postgresql via the terminal:

$ psql -U me123 -d my_db
psql (9.4.7)
Type "help" for help.

my_db=# \q

Note that it didn't ask me for the password for some reason even when I provided -p.

Here's my config:

$ sudo cat /etc/postgresql/9.4/main/pg_hba.conf 

local   all             postgres                                peer

# TYPE  DATABASE        USER            ADDRESS                 METHOD

local   all             all                                     md5
host    all             all             127.0.0.1/32            md5
host    all             all             ::1/128                 md5

And I believe because of that, I'm unable to connect to it from my web app on the same server via login and password and the error is (invalid_password): password authentication failed for user "me123" but the password is valid.

Someone asked me to provide my public id_rsa key to make be able to connect to their server via ssh. I did so and it's working fine. I want to do that from my another laptop as well without having to bother them. If I just copy a public and a private keys from my first laptop to the second one, will it allow me to connect to the server? Note I already have a private and public rsa keys on my second laptop that are, of course, different from the ones from the first laptop.

What's the best way to do so - copy the keys?

When I login to a remote machine via ssh, I have to enter a password first and then login to the OS itself by entering another pair of login and a password. When I'm doing I type exist. However, it doesn't terminate the ssh session, instead if logs me out from the OS:

[machine_name@login123 folder_name]$ exit
logout

CentOS release 6.2 (Final)
Kernel 3.14.5-x86-linode61 on an i686

machine_name login:

How do I disconnect from the ssh session?
